Ohio blows out UC Clermont by 69 points

Bobcats go on multiple double-digit runs

ATHENS – UC Clermont was no match for Ohio, which ran away with a 113-44 victory Wednesday night at the Convo.

All 13 available players saw action and scored for the Bobcats, with the starters playing just 10-17 minutes each. AJ Brown led the way with 18 points, Elmore James scored 16 points, and AJ Clayton finished with 15 points and 11 rebounds.

Ohio (4-3) led 62-17 at halftime and outscored the Cougars 51-27 in the second half.

The Bobcats shot 62.5% in the game and could have put more points on the board if they had made more free throws. They were 14 of 24 (58.3%) at the foul line.

UC Clermont (3-4) shot 30.5% and went just 3 of 12 on free throws. Ohio had 17 offensive rebounds to eight for the Cougars, and the Bobcats had fewer turnovers 17-9.

Ohio scored the first 12 points of the game and had a 28-0 run later in the first half to put the game away early. UC Clermont went scoreless for more than seven minutes, and a Dwight Wilson putback gave the Bobcats a 50-13 lead.

After a Cougars basket, Ohio scored 12 points in a row, for what in total was a 40-2 run before UC Clermont scored the final basket of the first half. A 12-0 run early in the second half made it 74-19, and the lead grew all the way until the end even with walk-ons playing.

Wilson scored 11 points with 12 rebounds in just 12 minutes. Jaylin Baker and Aidan Hadaway had 10 points each.

UC Clermont, which is a United States Collegiate Athletic Association Division II member, was led by Morris Duffy with nine points.

The Bobcats face rival Marshall at 5 p.m. Saturday at the Cam Henderson Center.
