Through a friend that's a manager on the Kent State men's basketball team, I heard some dirt that the O-Zone could use for the basketball game against Kent on Saturday January 15th at 7:00pm. I've been able to find articles that confirm this this information.

Kent State Brawl:
The first story involves a fight that I had not heard about, but apparently was huge. Justine Greene was hosting a party at his apartment when a few members of the basketball team were getting made fun of. Some members of the team then proceeded to break the windows of the man's car which lead to a lot of people at the party to choose sides. News reports say the fight swelled to as many as 30-50 people and received 11 calls to 911 in a 20 minute span. A little side note to all this, a week after the fight happened, the Recordpub.com (something similar to the Athens News for Kent I would assume?)  reported that no KSU student athletes were involved in the fight at all.

www.recordpub.com/news/article/4905024

Then a month later, in November, a security tape surfaced that clearly identified Eric Gaines, Robert Johnson, and Darius Leonard. As a result all three were cited with disorderly conduct and suspended for two games, a scrimmage, and an exhibition.

Grand Theft Auto:
Now for a more complex, and less clear cut story. Carlton Guyton, one of Kent State's best players, has been suspended indefinitely for car theft and allegations of sexual assault.

The reason I bring this up is because from what I hear this is a shaky case and the accuser might not be telling the whole truth and nothing but the truth. The hearing is the 14th, the day before we play Kent so there is a chance Carlton will suit up for play and be next in the long line of Kent players before him to hear it from the O-Zone.

Looks like I picked the right game to make my first visit back to the Convo in two years.

You really have to applaud Kent State. At the beginning of the season, it was unclear who was going to pick up the slack with Evans, Singletary, and Henry-Ala off the roster. Well done, Kent.

Kent's website is a gold mine of material for you guys. Little questionaires on the players' pages have some interesting answers.

In honor of Kent State's storied criminal history, I will be bringing bars of soap on a rope to the game to commemorate the prison sentences of the Golden Flashes, both past and present. I encourage everyone to do the same.

Who is doing the bulletins this year? I'm guessing Courtney is doing it again, does anyone know?

Careful, they might get taken away.

Optimist is doing them this year.

I hope there's a true bulletin for tomorrow night. All the stuff previously mentioned in this thread is still fair game. I remember last year, Guyton did acknowledge the "grand theft auto" chant. Also, Kent's coach, Senderoff, did a lot of the illegal phone calls in the Indiana recruiting scandal. A "Kelvin Sampson" chant would be appropriate.

I consider the Kent State Bulletin much more important than my finance homework.  My only concern is the marketing department printer.  My first significant donation to Ohio athletics will be for a new printer.

I've seen crazier things happen.

What's wrong with the printer? That thing was good to me for years.

It actually ran flawless today, amazingly.  It is just old and has seen a lot of prints/copies.  The thing freezes and jams all the time, with varying treys regularly out-of-use.

edit:
I'm going to start printing ahead of time to prevent any more issues with the bulletin.

Pat yourselves on the back. Despite it being thinner than against RMU and Buffalo, that was by far the best O Zone presence so far this year. Creative and doing more than the standard cheerleader fanfare. You guys really made Guyton public enemy #1.

We still have "CHEERLEADERS"? All I ever notice at the games are "gymnasts" (and pretty darn good ones), "pom pom clappers" during 110 tunes (hard to not screw up - smile, clap/clap, shake above head at end), "t-shirt/mini ball tossers" (hit the second level occassionally, plenty short soft tosses to the old folks and kids)), and during game play "baseline kneelers" (we're supposed to "Cheer-Lead"??? Make noise when THE OTHER TEAM HAS THE BALL??? NOT WHEN OHIO DOES???)......
