Based on a tweet from Javon Hagan it sounds like he and Deontai flew up for the spring game. That tweet also mentioned our trio of defenders from Colerain. 4/5 of our incoming DB's right there and Maxwell Howell is already in Athens?

Yes, Howell is in Athens. They had him at Safety this Spring. It's good to know that Williams finally got to visit. I'm really looking forward to all the new DBs that are coming in the fall.

Howell was playing corner in the Spring Game.

Interesting. The way I read recruiting reports was Christian and Howell would play corner while M. Williams, D. Williams and Hagan would be safety however I also saw it noted a lot of these guys had the ability to play either spot.

I think for this year alone, safety is the bigger need but we are graduating a lot of corners this year.. If these guys are good they can play early at either position.

Valley Cat. Please, if you know the identities of two OL from the Spring Game, #s 61 & 73? They are not reflected on the roster, but, were in images/videos from the game.

Playing quarters, both CB and Safety could find themselves playing 1:1 on a receiver, so the positions are more alike than they were when Safeties played deep, and corners played a short zone, and played sweeps. It won't surprise me to see players moving back and forth. To me the Safety spot is more complicated, because they might be playing 1:1, and they might be playing run, and they might be giving deep support to the corner, so players that have a really good field sense may end up at Safety.

I also noted that they moved Kyle Nelson to Safety for Spring. They may move some guys back, if there are enough healthy safeties.

This would be a big time get, but I doubt we'll ever see him on the field. Come on guys, there's got to be some academic issue. Blast me if you think I'm wrong.

It seems that he will in fact be a Bobcat, but at least initially, not the correct type. On 2/20 he signed a letter of intent with the Jones Country Junior College Bobcats: http://tinyurl.com/oxfowkr
Jones County JC is the school where Knorr placed Voncarie Owens back in 2003, and then Owens returned to Ohio in 2005 under Solich.

Good luck to Deontai.

I'm sorry that I was right on this one, but we can all hope that he ends up here eventually. I don't expect or deserve to get any apologies from those who ripped me up and down, but I'm a big boy.

I'm not saying he may not end up at JUCO, but he had time to get eligible after that signing with his SAT. Maybe they put a backup plan in first? He just visited Athens for the Spring game. Hopefully he makes it sooner rather than later.

Let's hope you are right that it's just a backup plan. Until the students actually arrive at fall camp, we won't know for sure. I still think that if he does qualify, he'll play right away.

I think you are right that this is a backup plan. From what I was told we would not know for sure if he qualified or not until late spring. This ain't late spring. There seemed to be some cautious optimism that he would qualify.

On May 10th, Williams tweets "Can't wait to leave for college"
https://twitter.com/IWILLSTILLRISE

Meanwhile Jones County Junior College adds another FS to their 2015 class as of May 7th, Shelton Wallace of North Rankin:
https://twitter.com/JCJCBobcatsFB

I hope that the college Williams can't wait to leave for is the Ohio Bobcats, while Wallace is a replacement for him with the Jones County Bobcats.

L.C., I think you've laid out the most appealing interpretation of the known facts, too bad he left a little ambiguity in his tweet. I hope we know for sure, soon.

When do the students start arriving for the summer session? I think some of the Freshmen come in for that, and they will then appear on the eDirectory.

Very soon, I think. The schedule I looked at said classes start May 25, which would be a week from next Monday, and that on-time registration starts May 4 and runs through May 20, so we are in that period now. There is also a late registration period that runs for about a week after classes start. If he's eligible I would think the coaches would have him submit his summer application real soon. So, his name could appear within the next few days, he says hopefully.

FWIW, it was a re-tweet, not his own.

My error. Thanks for correcting me. Well, we can still hope it reflects his opinion, and he's ready to leave as well.

A number of the 2015 recruits are starting to show up on the eDirectory now, including Arp, Colbert, and Pleasants.

I'm guessing that most of the 2015 class will come in for the summer session, but there may be a few more who will show up in the fall, so just because someone doesn't show up in a couple weeks doesn't mean for sure that they won't be here in the fall. I think we'll have to wait for Fall to know for sure.

When do those stipends kick in? I'd bet no earlier than this fall. Williams may need to stay in Florida for the summer to earn college money.

This is the latest word, an article from Arkley:
http://tinyurl.com/pdr7bsf
He is apparently still trying to get eligible, and may or may not appear in the fall, and Jeff Christian and Clayton Glasco are in a similar situation.

L.C., does that likely mean that he's going to take the ACT again? Or, can he take a summer school class at his high school to improve his GPA? Do you know what types of things he can do to become eligible if he's not at this point?
