Journalists make mistakes all the time. So, making mistakes in journalism is not the issue. The issue is whether or not you admit to your reporting mistakes.

I'm really liking the WRs we signed. We'll surely need them as I assume Chase Hendricks will prob hit the portal.

Page has got the height. Hack is another in that Wigs / Owen body.

I think Rodney might be out as well. Though he would be next man up in the string of WR success we've had recently, so he could really have some success here if he stays. Zero percent chance we can compete with the offers Chase is gonna have thrown his way. Unfortunate, but a 1K JR receiver out of the MAC is gonna have two dozen P4 offers.

Yeah, I dunno about Rodney. He started off the year really slow and also finished that way. I remember hearing Brian Smith say that he was going through a rough patch at the end of the season, seemed to be lacking confidence. Hope Dom Dorwart stays, I really like what I saw out of him.

I don't think it was an OCF Parody account (though that would be entertaining)...it was OCF making references to a Twitter account he failed to recognize as a satirical account. Please correct me if I am wrong.

That's correct. He asked me to delete the posts. Everyone is a bit on edge. That's ok.

I thought Rodney walked on senior night but I could be mistaken. Does he have any eligibility?

Harris has one year left, and he did walk on senior day.

No idea his plans, but will always be Bobcat legend for the Miami win. Also a great kid by all accounts from the people I know that know him. Would love to have him back.

Court filing from 12/2 that was recorded today on docket shows that Smith is trying to get funds distributed from an investment account because he's closing on a new house on December 15th.

This makes it seem he's probably as blindsided by being on leave as anyone else and means it doesn't relate to him seeking another job. Any chance they gave him paid leave to pack his boxes for the move?

So what we know at this point is he is going through a divorce (gasp) and is buying a new house (shocking).

Obviously not even remote grounds for being put on leave.

I think at this point with everything we have, I think we can say the following:
1. He’s going through a divorce.
2. He was placed on leave quickly with out much info.
3. The little information released means it’s likely disciplinary and not health related.
4. Reporting(non media, but credible) has indicated the accusation here is likely of an inappropriate relationship. Innocent until proven guilty.

I don’t think any of the above is out of line from discussion on a message board, especially if discussed in a reasonable tone. Bullet points 1 and 2 are fact. 3 is extremely probable. Based on 1,2,3 number 4 as an accusation(not truth) seems likely.

I think the AD is making Brian deal with this divorce and get it taken care of before it's way out of control. Looking through the case files, he's trying to buy a house for him and his daughter and the mom figured out he's using money that hasn't been split yet??? Court file says he thought it was split when he tried to pull the money. This is just my opinion so don't take this as what's actually happening.

An issue with #4 is the word "inappropriate" - who gets to define that word? If consenting adults - non of our business. Unless there is a contractual clause broken - non of our business.

The current president of the United States was humping the pitcher of my coed softball team in NYC while still married to his first wife. I didn't pull her off the diamond and it certainly didn't impact his career.

I'll hold off until we all know more - but this better be a hell of a lot more than someone in the administration or town reacting like a scorned teenage girl.

If this is what happened, would it be a crime? Otherwise hard to see how this would be directly related.

Yes, but to be placed on leave you would have to think violated a code of conduct(ie staff, student, etc) not just a random person in town.

My guess is maybe the money wasn't reported or something??? I truly have no idea. I just figured the timing was too convenient. Up until now, the case hasn't been toughed since September.

I don't think you can put somebody on leave because they're getting divorced.

Won't repeat any of the details, but the rumors that were posted in the short-lived "Worrying Situation" thread were largely (if I recall) about the behavior pre-divorce.

Whatever that is, presumably it's something that the University feels either 1) gives them the ability to terminate with cause or 2) gives them the leverage to negotiate a favorable buyout because Smith/Attorney see the risk of an arbitrator deciding in favor of the University.
