Jason Candle to UConn

He’s a good coach and you have to wonder why he didn’t leave earlier.

That's not exactly an upgrade in quality of program; maybe in salary. Wasn't he the highest paid MAC coach at something like $1.2 million? (going from memory here)

It looks like Mora was making about 2x what Candle was at Toledo. So at least it's a sizeable step up money-wise.

But two of the MAC's top programs have lost coaches to UConn and Charlotte recently. Feels like there's a pretty different trajectory these days.

Through this entire messy week, I completely lost track of Candle going to UConn.

I'd be lying if I didn't say I thought he'd land somewhere better, but maybe I'm putting too much weight into successful MAC runs? Have the days of Campbell, Fleck run its course?

Lance Liepold may be the last MAC coach to go big time (Kansas?) in 2021. I may have missed someone. With the MAC seemingly weakening, it might not be too hard to make a big run for a few years and get a bigger job. You have to wonder some about Martin’s recent success maybe getting him a better job-but that red sweater look may be holding him back.

As far as coaches moving on in the MAC, Toledo may be hiring a better coach now than their old one. He sure looks good on paper.

Tosh Lupoi to CAL. Sweet. I loved that guy when he was coaching for the Browns. Still looks like he can suit up.

One name being bounced around for the Michigan job is DeBoer. Come on. who wants to see it? DeBoer to Michigan. Kiffin quits LSU and heads to Bama for his "Dream job." LSU goes bat shit crazy.

On a slightly more likely note: I'm betting Sherrone Moore is coaching in the MAC within 3 years.

If some of the rumored details about last night’s events are true Sherrone Moore might be lucky to be out of Jail in 3 years.

Yes, but in Utah that just means he kissed a girl. On the lips.

Longtime Utah coach Kyle Whittingham is stepping down. He was the current 2nd longest tenured coach in FBS (20 years!).

There were rumblings that this was gonna be his last year, but not surprised.

That said, I think this carousel is far from over, especially if the rumors bout DeBoer are true....

Important note that Whittingham isn't retiring, he's open to other opportunities. It will be interesting to see where he lands, if anywhere.

He and Mike Gundy were T2 having both started in 2005, only behind Iowa's Kirk Ferentz. Now, the current #2 is Air Force's Troy Calhoun, former Ohio assistant under Grobe.

Toledo is hiring Gardner-Webb’s head coach as their OC. Lord knows what they’ll score on us with better athletes than GW.

Hate to say it, Jacobs is building a monster staff at Toledo right now. So far initially, impressed with the non-Mount Union staff he is putting together.
