And I was disagreeing - you want to agree with him - go ahead - I think you (both) are wrong.

Problematic. No baseline to come back to if an adjustment is needed.

Simple solution: get him film on Mighty MAC Earl Boykins stoking it and ask BVP to report back to the team what he discovered. Things like pre-shot routine, focus, concentration, consistent release and bang!

Watching BVP year over year I am so impressed with how he has added putting the ball on the floor and going strong to the hoop vs not initiating moves. I thought he was completely one dimensional and timid about mixing it up underneath. Really surprised how much progress he has made. Imagine how much greater he will be as he continues to develop nailing threes, going to the hoop, getting fouled and then coolly knocking down free throw after free throw.

I totally agree that BVP has worked in the off season to become a complete player. It could be that he has been so focused on doing so that some of his former positive attributes have been neglected somewhat. Of course, that is just speculation on my part. I would suspect that his work in the weight room and bulking up has had some effect on the fluidity of his outside shooting and at the foul line. I totally expect he’ll figure it out.

Or he could just be in a funk, it happens, he will be fine. Love watching folks freak out and seem to have all the answers at what players and coaches should be doing.

+1

Agree on both points.

1. Think he is in an FT slump, or "funk" if you will. Look at what he did last year at the line.

2. I also enjoy reading our many armchair experts dissect everything that's wrong with the program. My favorites are the long discourses on alternate starting lineups, and coaching tips for Boals about exactly how many minutes each guy should have.

Are you besmirching the name of our first football coach and the first president of LSU? Have you no shame? ;-)

IMHO, it's past the point of being considered a midseason slump. It's been bad all year. It was worse on Tuesday, but he's been around or under 50% about the entire year. He's had games this year of 3/7, 3/7, 1/4, 1/3, 2/5, 3/7, 3/7, and 4/11. The outliers aren't the bad games, the outliers are the good games with more than 2 attempts. One 5/5 game and one 8/9.

Great results!

That would indicate that he sometimes finds his rhythm vs being inept. He would seem to have a flawed practice routine of not finding what works and focus solely on repeating it time after time.

In golf we all have had times where we were hitting the ball well but really didn't know what we were doing right at the moment and thus have the ability to repeat it the next time out or even after a few more holes. Think about putting. Do you guys find what works and then repeat the pre-shot routine and make the same stroke with the same tempo using the muscle memory mechanics?

BVP isn't the only one in a disturbing trend for Ohio players.

BVP
2019 - 70.7%
2020 - 55.3%

Jordan Dartis
2016 - 88.5%
2017 - 88.3%
2018 - 84.6%
2020 - 81.8%

Gavin Block
2016 - 82.8%
2017 - 65.5%
2018 - 59.7%
2020 - 58.5%

Teyvion Kirk
2018 - 72.1%
2019 - 52.7%

Jason Preston
2019 - 76.5%
2020 - 70.7%

Obviously not a huge sample size but it's still puzzling.

I'm not going as far as calling him inept...but I feel like your logic is deeply flawed. I played golf. A lot of golf. If I play 20 rounds of golf and have 2 rounds of 72, 8 rounds of 80, and 10 rounds of 85+, I don't look at those 2 good rounds and say "See, I found my rhythm and I'm a pretty good golfer." Results don't lie, especially as the sample size continues to grow and the averages stay the same. This far into a season with a guy shooting 55% from the stripe, those two good games out of twenty are the outliers.

Wait a minute...wasn't 2017 the year of the Convo Bat? Curse of the Batbino?

That Gavin Block thing is almost as baffling as Ivo.

Never would've guessed Block was that bad from the FT line with as solid of a shooter as he was

I've seen crazier things happen.
