First the big NIL money will go to a few kids at a few schools. the people that put all the money up at BYU say this is a one year or one time thing. I have already heard rumblings around that feel this will not be a huge thing in a few years if it is will only be for a few 5 star guys that are going to make bank at whatever school they choose.

Coaching has been poor. but what would of your guys response be if frank was still coach and we were 0-2 right now?

Dont be too quick to make syracuse loss look so bad. they held rutgers to 195 total yards. and only 50 yards rushing on 43 attempts. they out gained rutgers by almost 100 yards and had 5 turnovers...

The coaching has to get better but most people that picked us to be good this year thought we would start 1-3. it may not get better but i think this team will be pretty good by the time the league schedule starts.

I’ll say it now “que sera sera”. The market is the market and we’ll see where we fit in. It’s just like what happened to Court Street when the mall moved in. What happened to Belk and Martings, Cornwell Jewelers, the Varsity Theater, etc.? Things change.

I think the only time a Solich Ohio team was 0-2 was 2008, his fourth year at the helm. They started 0-4. They opened with a one-point loss to Wyoming at home, led O$U in the 4th quarter before losing by 12, lost to our nemesis, CMU, at home by three, and by eight at NWern. After coming from behind to beat VMI, they lost at WMU to fall to 1-5. They eventually got to 2-8 before taking the last two to finish 4-8, 3-5. I'm sure there were some wanting Solich's head at the time, but most of what I heard (not on this board, as I didn't know about it then) was that people were impressed that Ohio hung close with some very good teams. For most people, "moral victories" were still allowed.

The difference between then and now is that Solich was in his fourth year after taking over a pretty bad program while Albin is in his 17th year here and was handed a pretty loaded lineup.

As for Rutgers, they're not exactly a powerhouse. They were picked sixth, at best, in the B10 East, which means they're the equivalent of about mid-level MAC. For Syracuse it would be like losing to Fiami or EMU. It only shows that Rutgers (1) had a good game plan and (2) executed well -- two things we didn't do against them or Duquesne.

We will get by.
We will get by.
We will get by.
We will survive.

I do not get it! You attempt to take down an ACC team! You have a great opportunity, you fail but must win against the FCS team! Now you must win out against each MAC team you play!

Need some success!

The frustrating part is that we have a pretty solid roster with plenty of talent. With a halfway decent head coach this would be a good team. Unfortunately, we have the worst head coach I have ever seen at any level of athletics. No idea what this Albin guy had on Frank.

I seriously question the talent level. Our recruiting has been mediocre for several years.

Ding ding ding. At what point has this program ever had a recruiting ranking in the top of the MAC. I know we all talk about how when it comes down to brass tacks, the rankings don't matter until the kid steps on campus. But cmon, those rankings are there for a reason.

We were absolutely gutted by injuries in 2008.

Argue Syracuse all you like, I personally think we could and should have won that game. However, how do you not become concerned when you lose to an FCS team that hands out a total of 40 scholarships. That is less than one-half of the number of scholarships we give out. Seriously, their stadium holds a grand total of 2,000 people. I give Duquesne all the credit. They came into our house and handed us a loss. Tim Albin has been with this program for 17 years. He inherited a team which was by no means a bottom feeder but now appears to be destined to just that for the next 4 years, and in the process is going to set Ohio back into the dark ages when it comes to football. Absolutely pathetic.

I'm certainly concerned and think they're going to have a bad season. But saying that you're out after two games is pitiful. Even if they have multiple bad years as they rebound from losing Frank, I'm still in.

Did you watch the last game?

Albin on the sidelines reminded me of Henry Winkler in "Waterboy"; if Henry Winkler was about to have a stroke.

I am completely MF'd that we won any games with this azz hat as offensive coordinator.

Don't even get me started on Collins!

Let's be fair; his offense has been pretty good over the years. He deserves credit. And if our D got a 2 or 3 more stops per game, we would be 2-0.

I actually think his offense could have, and perhaps should have been better than what it actually was. Especially at this program's peak.

I agree with all the NFL talent we've had on the offensive side of the ball. How this team did not score more over the past 10 years is befuddling.

Do some of you even think about what you type?

Yes, I watched the last game. Didn't like what I saw. But I'm still in. We've had a stretch of more than a decade of winning seasons to enjoy. What good are hysterics and fans quitting on the team going to do now. The friends and faculty I admired most at OU had some unpampered Midwestern grit to them. I'm not a believer in quitting when the going gets tough.

In retrospect we should have negotiated an end to Frank's reign a few years back. Then we could have had a search and hired a new head coach and staff. I don't believe that Frank was interested in those discussions.
Fast forward to a situation where Frank gets to name his own successor as opposed to it being an administrative decision based on a structured process.
The present landscape of weak leadership and a dire financial situation is what allowed this to happen in my opinion. There is still hope that it may play out succesfully on the field.
