Ohio has three shots---Akron, Eastern, and Bowling Green to avoid having the first no win season since 1994.

Looks like EMU is as close as this team is getting to Detroit!

For the second week in row we lined up in the pistol from our one yd line. For the second week in a row the RB couldn't get out of the end zone. This time it was the difference in the game, or at least kept the game from going into OT. Some of us have for years harped on not having plays where the QB is under center. That makes for an easy QB sneak to get some breathing room. Runs from the pistol just take too long to develop when the other team has loaded the box. Quick passes would be better.

The fact that the Twitter account hasn't even posted a final score graphic is pretty lame, not gonna lie.

Its not looking good but there isn't enough evidence to say Ohio will be out of all but 3 MAC games this season.

The cold hard truth about the state of the program might be summarized by these two points.

1. When a successful Power 5 big time time school makes a bad hire, it might take a few years to right the ship. When a successful non-Power 5 school makes a bad hire, it can have devestating results for many years to come.

2. Loyalty to assistants by head coaches can sometimes be the kiss of death. I have seen this first hand while coaching at the high school level. Incidentally hiring adminstrators because a popular long time leader strongly encouraged a board to do so can also have devestating consequences. Who knows what favors were owed. Coach Urban Meyer bringing in former Ohio State Coach Earle Bruce's grandson was a disaster. He didn't have the qualifications to be Ohio Wesleyan's receivers coach, let alone a program like that. When we make similar sentimental or loyalty type picks we have ended up with the likes of Brian Knorr and Billy Hahn. I would love to know what Coach Burrow truly thought of the Albin hire. The bottom line is we can't make these types of self inflicted wounds and expect to heal in short period of time. We may be looking at a long term convalesence.

This.

And I heard something on a podcast the other day regarding D1 college football. Paraphrasing, but if you get tied down by loyalties and traditions in this business you will get left behind. You always have to be looking 3-5 years into the future, not the past.

I came here my looking for the amusement of people full scale defending anything about yesterday's results or this coaching staff. I'm proud of you folks that I'm disappointed in that regard.

Only 8 1/2 weeks until basketball season.

Also, someone might want to go back to printing the "Drinking school with a football problem" t-shirts that used to be popular.

+1

150% focus is on hoops. And I think we'll be making the same comment this time every year as long as Tim Albin is drawing a head coaching salary.

Make them wear throwbacks from the record-setting losing streak in the ‘90 until they win? (This comment is submitted as comedy)

I somewhat disagree. We've seen numerous times in the MAC where the right coach comes in, makes cultural improvements, and wins awful damn fast. Hazell, Hoke, and Leipold come to immediate mind.

I see a culturally broken model on our sideline.

Field Goals: Week 1 -- 3/4; Week 2 -- 0/1
Sacks: Week 1 -- 1; Week 2 -- 1
3rd Down Conversions: Week 1 -- 5/12; Week 2 -- 1/7

Penalties: Week 1 -- 0; Week 2 -- 12 for 112 yds

First Downs Allowed: Week 1 -- 21 (none by penalty); Week 2 -- 26 (seven by penalty)
Opponent's Total Yds: Week 1 -- 383; Week 2 -- 362
Opponent's Passing Yds: Week 1 -- 100; Week 2 -- 194

Still 0-0 in conference play. Should we be worried, very. Its likely we'll be 0-4 heading into Akron but could be 1-0 leaving Akron.

That's assuming that the coaching staff doesn't lose the locker room by then. More than wins and losses, that's my largest concern. Negative culture can be very hard to recover from.

This team should be really pissed at themselves after last Saturday, so maybe it's time for an "us vs them" mentality, similar to what Solich did after the critical Dispatch article the morning of the BG game in 2006. They were 2-3 after losing to BG that day, but finished 9-5, 7-1.

I just don't know who the leaders in the locker room are on this team. That '06 team was full of them.

This video sums up what I was thinking.
https://youtu.be/qi1LMIUOOAI

This was worst loss in a long time. Finding ways to not win a MACC was frustrating when we were as good as anyone in the MAC. This, to me, was somewhat embarrassing but nowhere near as frustrating. I was just enjoying being back on campus with family and friends and having no real reason to worry about the actual outcome. It was pretty evident after the first six quarters of the season that we are likely fielding a bottom 10 FBS team. Whether we go 0-12 or 3-9 is in the grand scheme of things is not so important.

I was thinking we had a good chance to have a losing season even if Frank were still here. I hope Albin can turn it around but it is evident that a 2021 MACC is not in the cards. It might not be for a while. I hope not but I feel like Rob Schneider in the Waterboy video.
