Yep, whole lot of nothing....unfortunately for him the State Association has left the ball in his court. They will not be the road kill this season like they were in the spring.

Today's the day, wuddya think BTC, think Dewine lets each school decide or does he pull the plug himself?

Each school district gets to decide. It would be interesting though if he said remote learning, then no sports.

I liked this letter to the editor in today's Dispatch.

It happens in 15 minutes. Lot of schools across the state are awaiting his decision to see if he gives it the green light or holds up, especially after what the B1G, MAC, and the state of Michigan did.

Great letter to editor there. Problem is these schools are opening for three weeks, waiting for their room and board bills to clear, then proceed to shut down after a few cases.

The issue of remote learning students participating in sports was a hot topic in N.J.

Governor Murphy decided that remote learning students should be allowed to
participate in sports.

What has a lot of parents upset is the "hybrid" model some school districts
are using fro their grammar schools.
In person learning 2 days a week,8:30 -12:00.

Virtual learning,3 days a week,8:30 - 12:00.

That comes out to 5 half days every week.
The parents feel that's not close to enough time.

I liked the letter to Editor, except for the part about "you can play the game another day".

For some kids, especially seniors, they may be losing their last chance to
compete on the interscholastic level.
So,for them, they don't have the chance to play another day.

As an athlete I feel that sports are an integral part of the educational
experience.
So,as long as they can be undertaken safely,I feel schools should make every effort to offer sports, even during these trying times.

He opened the gates. In regards to fans, the family can come and those "very close" to the athlete. Can't wait to see the definitions of that .

That part is going to get very interpretive and ugly. Only thing you can do is go to each player and have a pass list at that point, but let's be real, that's gonna get slammed into the ground real quick.

We'll see what the actual order says when it comes out in the next day or so. It's most likely going to be a limited stadium capacity, so then each player gets a certain number of tickets for them to decide who those close people are to them.

Only good news is my grandpa's place backs up to the 40 yard line in a small town. Guess I know where I'm going to watch football on Friday nights

Thinking about the episode of MASH where a general gave them an officers club out of gratitude for treating his wounded son. The enlisted personnel were pissed at being excluded. So when an exception was made for family members because the general's son was a private, Hawkeye suddenly became "related" to all the enlisted personnel in the camp.

Yeah. This is gonna work.

Sorry, was tied up all day and evening. This was the most anti-climatic announcement ever. No surprise whatsoever as to his announcement.

"You see a big red bird with fuzzy pink feet?"

Always great to watch the early season re-runs (not to sidetrack the thread) and is my favorite segment of all time on that show

So the order says maximum 15% stadium capacity for both indoor and outdoor, but no more than 300 inside and no more than 1,500 outside. It applies to all levels of sports.

It really sounds like everyone involved is just passing the buck on this issue so no one claims liability for A) being "the one" to cancel fall sports season, and B) a student athlete catching COVID and potentially dying as a result.

It's just really frustrating to watch. Like every governing body in Ohio is just tiptoeing around the inevitable, which is no fall sports.

Education is locally based by the Constitution, the State legislature made that clear in the spring and the governor is listening. Local control in a state the size of Ohio deserves local decisions in cases like this.

That's permanent seated capacity. Some schools are allocating a certain number of tickets to seniors first for the team, band and cheerleaders for football. A 2000 seat stadium is only 300 spectators.

The Licking County League has said no to visitors. The local policies are going to be a real hodge podge.

My daughter's HS volleyball team is allowing 2 spectators per player for home matches. Spectators must have temperature checked before entering, must wear a mask and must social distance from other families. They are offering a live streaming service for those who can't attend in person.

At least they're playing.

New Jersey just "postponed" all indoor Fall sports till Spring.
Around here that's girls' Volleyball and gymnastics.

Te state is going to try and reconfigure the sports calendar to what amounts to 4 seasons to accommodate it.

Its going to present a number of challenges, especially for girls who play volleyball and basketball.

What district is that Ted? Is there a cost to watch the streamed games? A district in Licking County is live streaming their football games at $20 a game.

Will be interesting to see how much effect club volleyball will have on a spring season.

Alan, which Licking County district? Some schools have live streamed games before this year and none, to my knowledge, charged a fee.
