With the new 105 rule coming out. Teams are allowed to cut players/tell them to enter the portal because they likely won’t make the roster when fall comes around. I think that was the case for these players and possibly a couple more of the guys that hit the portal with no playing time. This also allows us to cut players to get more players in the portal/high school.

Makes sense. I'm sure a lot of tough and honest conversations occuring between players and coaches.

With each arrival and departure, it gets harder to get enthusiastic about the state of College Football, and more clear that it needs to be spun off into a professional league. That way you can have negotiations between a set of owners, and a players union. Only then can a set of rules be created that will be enforceable. Until then, it seems that the chaos will only increase.

Amen to what you say. Not sure the chaos will end soon, but it’s not conducive to being a big fan right now.

It seems to me that, in granting NIL money to a player, they can/should sign binding contract that a player agrees to play for a set minimum period of time in exchange for the NIL money, and which includes a liquidated damages clause if the player leaves prematurely. That's similar to what coaching contracts look like; why can't the same thing be done with players?

Most of the damage has already been done to the defense due to the portal / graduation. Defense has a lot to prove this upcoming season.

The power 4 offers must of been backup opportunities for Shay or he really just wanted to stay with Schmitz and Faanes. Makes you feel for a guy like Stellan who left Ohio to go to Charolette with Faanes to probably start because the other two guys decided to stay just for them to come in the next portal window. Could’ve started here or there but will likely be the back up to Shay and same goes for Parker Startz.

Schmitz to Charlotte...sure, ok that makes sense but Taylor as well? He had plenty of P4 offers even the bottom level P4 teams where i thought he could see plenty of playing time. I guess it speaks to the relationship with Faanes and Albin.

I’m not saying the numbers are outstanding for him, but it’s all we got with the folks who were left. Lots of opportunities for the new guys and the guys down the depth chart last year.

Taylor to Charlotte especially makes no sense, given that their starter at MLB from last year, who was their leading tackler, returns.
