The yearly turnover makes it impossible to follow a program anymore. Ill watch the games, but you lose interest when you dont even know 1/2 the starters going into a season anymore. Hard to get excited when u find a young talented dude and then realize that hes just going to bounce to some mid level p4 program

Kinda like, I hope we win but, does it even matter. Glad I was in school when I was.

With the Tennessee QB move, I would think a lot of University Presidents and powers to be at schools such as Ohio, may be re-examining why the hell are we even trying to “compete” in this $hit-show.

Well, getting a commitment from a Dartmouth guy seems most appropriate since OHIO changed colors from blue and white to green and white because the graduate student coach in the 1890s couldn't find a place to order blue uniforms from, so he went to the supplier of his undergraduate Alma Mater -- Dartmouth -- and ordered Dartmouth green uniforms. [That's one of several stories about why the university changed its school colors, but it's the one I find most credible.]

Defense getting absolutely crushed by the portal.

So we've lost our top 3 on the DL (Doggette, Henderson, Rice), top LB (Taylor), top 2 DEs (Weaver, Schmitz).

This new era of the transfer portal and NIL is really making it hard to care anymore. As an Alum and Bobcat fan it really sucks.

This Spring game shOUld be festive. I’ve been in mourning the last few days. This team could have competed with Rutgers and WVU without the loss of 7 defensive starters.
Schmitz, Taylor, Weaver, Rice, Doggette, Henderson and Brawlley plus the two immediate Faanes followers. Bowman was a dawg for real.
I’m portaled OUt.

Tank Pearson is posting highlights on his Twitter. Hoping we aren’t losing another one to the portal.

Not a great sign but makes sense. I've seen a few offers out there to transfer DBs so I'd imagine we are going to lose one or two here shortly.

One has to wonder if they should have hired Hauser do to Ohio ties? If Pearson is in it makes 9 defensive starters. Is the mass exodus on defense based on the success they have had and getting paid alone?
Either way the 2025 season is in flux when ideally they only had a few question marks.

We could go back and 3 months ago folks took the lack of portal players as a nock on how they felt about Coach Albin. But the CATS had one of the earliest games and the portal was not open. Now, that argument is moot.

A friend of mine who is close to the program says he's not worried about the defensive guys leaving and expects the incoming guys to be better. He also pointed out that last year everyone was worried about the D, and it turned out to be a strength. Who knows, but that's an interesting take.

Isn’t the portal automatically open when a coach leaves?

The Portal opened Dec 9th for everyone, but you are correct, it does open when a coach leaves. In OUr case, the Portal opened one day early. And we had one of the earliest Bowl’s.
