True. I guess it's a question that I meant for a broader audience than just you and I.

I think it's truly as simple as this: those vaccine mandates came around before literally everything in the US was political. Every single thing is political now. It's the only lens through which people are capable of viewing society through.

That seems to be the case with large segments of the country. These days, I try very hard to not involve myself in political discussion as I find it to be a general waste of my time. Personally, I don't find businesses and schools requiring a vaccine to be "political". It's a matter of health and wellness for the operation as a whole, and should be treated as such.

Unfortunately some of the other vaccines are getting swept into the fray. The Einsteins in the Tennessee state government last month banned ALL vaccination requirements in the state to placate the aluminum foil hat wearers in their political base.

Like you, my son is avoiding political conversations. He was at the Involvement Fair on College Green this past Sunday and just kept going past the Young Democrats and Young Republicans tables.

Politics has put a lot of stress on our relationships with friends and family. I try to avoid any subject that I think may lead down the road of picking a side but I'm finding it very difficult these days. Pick any topic and you can somehow find the conversation shifting to a certain party's stance on the matter. Sad but its reality.

In my own opinion, I'm glad for your son. There are so many other more enjoyable things to be involved in on campus.

Just got an email from Dr. Ice that 64% of students on the Athens campus and almost 75% of the students in on-campus housing are fully vaccinated. That's considerably higher than the 47% of 18+ in Athens County reported by the NYTimes. It would be great if the MAC could report on vaccination rates for each school's main campus.

She also said that faculty have been slow to report vaccinations -- less than 50% have either shown full vaccination or chosen weekly testing. The rates are also low on regional campuses.

Ohio State is now requiring all staff and students to at least receive a first vaccination by October 15 and to be fully vaccinated by November 15. Bet we soon follow with something similar.

With the two shot vaccines you are supposed to wait 3-4 weeks between does but you aren't considered fully vaccinated until 2 weeks after those second does have been administrated.

You'll need then your first shot by October 1st then to have a reasonable shot at being fully vaccinated by November 15th.

Most Memorable Bobcat Events Attended

2012 45-13 victory over ULM in the Independence Bowl
2015 34-3 drubbing of Miami @ Peden front of 25,086

LSU recently announced that fans over the age of 12 would need to be vaccinated to attend games at Tiger Stadium. (after an alarming Covid spike in Baton Rouge a while back)

Going to a concert on or after Oct. 4th?

https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/live-nation-will-req...

In the meanwhile, the Alan Parson Project concert at the Ryman I bought tickets for originally in early 2019 has now been postponed for the third time. (Was going to be Sept. 15) Maybe he wants to wait until after Oct.4th? That would suit me fine. No needs to meet the actual "Eye in the Sky" so soon.

To be fair to the South, three SEC football teams (including all staff, etc) are at or very near 100% which includes Vandy and LSU... and shockingly Ole Miss which was the first to hit 100% or so they claim.
