I liked his stroke when he took a good shot, we all just needed to see one go in, Connor more than anyone. I also am going to go out on a limb and say that Miles shoots better than 10.5% from distance next year. Both those guys had some jitters, Miles started to look more confident towards the end and I'm thankful it came in time for his rebound and putback to beat Fiami. Miles and Foster were on completely different/opposite arcs this year. Foster started out pretty well and then seemed to fall off the map about the mid point of the season. Brown started off slow (hampered by the injury, I'm sure), then seemed to pick it up towards the end of the season. They were freshman, I expect them to be inconsistent. If not next year then by their jr. or sr. seasons. However, Miles is going to have to develop a consistent shot. There was a reason he (and Murrell) were wide open from distance last year. It was the same reason why I cringed as they continued to clank shots off the rim (when it wasn't an airball). He really played well at the end of the year. Was huge against Fiami. Foster struggled but he was a 6-10 freshman who probably should have redshirted. Due to injuries he had to play and I thought he was a solid C. Year 2 could be a huge jump. I would like to know if anyone knows anything about our 3 new freshmen. Will any make an impact? Will any redshirt? Thought I would finally jump in and contribute. Love the Cats and what Boals has brought to the table. This class coming in along with the JUCO and Transfers will fit as nice building blocks. Much like this past year, we will see improvements in most areas as the season progresses along. We know what we have with Preston and BVP as a result of the jumps they made in their respective games this past year. Look for them both to only improve further. Our Sophomore mix of McDay, BRod and Brown will make similar strides this season and as long as they can keep team first, their contributions will be added weapons. We will see how things shake with those coming in, but I think the sleeper in this class is going to White. Watching his highlights I see a 3-wing that can attack the rim, has length to create separation and a jumper that will fill a hole for us. He gets his body square to the rim on turnarounds, has the hops to elevate on a defender and his stroke is pretty pure. Not sure he's Dartis pure yet, but I have a feeling he will be scorer for the future. I'm ready to get next season rolling and looking forward to watching the development of team chemistry with these guys. The parts seems to be there with Miguel sliding in to replace Ves and Towns will provide length and athleticism. What happens with Granger and Foster will be intriguing. I think I'm on board with red-shirting one of these guys. With Wilson in the big man slot for 21/22 season, it would be smart for Granger and Foster to develop their respective games to play the 4. Speaking of Wilson, man I like the sounds of this guy getting a season of coaching with the Boals staff and then playing next year - does anyone know if he has 2 years with us as a Grad? Let's hope that the winning comes early and often and students jump on board to get back to rocking the convo. You know what time it is - It's basketball thirty in the Convo! Go Cats! He is a microcosm of Saul's recruiting. Kent gets Antonio Williams from the same place and he averages 15 ppg. We got the 10th man at Indian Hills. It makes sense Saul had success this year. He is a very good D2 recruiter. Murrell and guys like Gollon and Block were D2 type guys. He had some good ones don't get me wrong, but we never had depth. Please explain how Gavin Block was a D2 guy. I guess all those other D1 programs like NIU, Bradley, Bucknell, SDSU and a couple Ivy Leagues thought the same as well? He wasn't a MAC MVP candidate but he played a pivotal role on a team with Jordy, Jaaron and Tony. My issue with Gavin (to no fault of his own) is that he was always asked to play out of position because of the catastrophic injuries the team faced...and then losing Jaaron. Had he been able to play his natural glue guy position and not asked to carry a heavier load, he would have been fine. Not mention the guy was tough as nails and played through all kinds of injuries. Someday, you'll move on from this narrative. Right? Both Gollon and Block had some very good games against good D1 teams. I know you can't handle the injury bug narrative, but its a fact. Just accept the past years, and the facts and move on into 2020. Look at the numbers that these guys put up, when healthy in 2017-2018. It's pretty easy to forget the games that Gavin strung together in Charleston because it doesn't fit your narrative. The 22 and 10 against Clemson, and 11 and 7 against Dayton....hmmm, I guess those aren't D1 teams either? And it's easy to forget the hot shooting streak Gollon had at the end of that same year, isn't it? Throw in a healthy James Gollon for good measure. Would either have the skills to singlehandedly carry a D1 team on their backs night in night out? Definitely not. Did both prove to be effective productive pieces to a certain D1 team? Most definitely. The most unfortunate thing for both was that they got caught in torrid of injuries that befell the Saul-Ball era. One can fault Saul for lots of things. I hold zero animosity towards him for recruiting either Gavin or James. The Saul ship sailed. Way past time to move on. I don't disagree with that. I'd like to see what Boals could have done with several players - only because we've seen improvements by a few guys that seemed really quick jumps.
