I am enjoying watching Casey Sayles get some reps for the St. Louis Battlehawks. Number 90 seems to be holding his own in the trenches!!!

As if on cue,I saw an article this morning that says the NFL plans on adding an additional playoff team in 2020.

When they do,only the top team in each conference will get a first week bye.

They also plan, either 2020 or at the latest 2021 to expand the number of regular season games to 17 with a second bye week.

Baseball also recognized the need to speed up the game.

This season every pitcher must pitch to a minimum of 3 batters.

Off thread topic for sure, but this rule in baseball is typical Dumb Rob Manfred and his geniuses. It'll take 5 minutes off the game length at best. It's been statistically shown to be the case based on last year's games. If you're an Athletic Subscriber, there was an article done showing this, and I'm sure there were others to point this out.

As it relates to "speeding up the game", I don't think baseball needs sped up any more than football. What it needs is less down time where nothing is happening in the stadium. TV Timeouts are a big culprit of this in both cases in my opinion. Beyond that, I just think moving things along faster - running off the field faster, or running in from the bullpen, etc. at least give the perception of things moving faster.

Don't feel bad, I didn't either. I'd say most people in America don't either.

I don't feel bad. :-)

I struggle to maintain interest in the NFL and College Football as it is now anyway. If it weren't for the social aspect of the sport (tailgating, time spent in bars watching, watching with family over holidays, etc), I wouldn't be watching at all. I watched more NFL over the Thanksgiving and Christmas weekends than I did for the entire season combined other than those two holidays. Why? Because my dad, cousin, and father-in-law had it on while I was visiting. If we were in my house, we would have been watching College Hoops.

Casey Sayles with a big QB sack and pressure in the ESPN game today----calling the broadcast is Bellaire's own Joey Galloway.

Nobody despises to lose more than I do. That's got me into trouble over the years, but it also made a man of mediocre ability into a pretty good coach. Woody Hayes

I love the extra football. Watching every chance I get. Now if I went somewhere and college hoops was on, would be a short visit.
