It's confirmed through the athletic department that there will be an audio stream of all home Ohio Softball games this season. It's good to have the girls featured on a broadcast of some sort. I'm sure the coverage will expand in the future once ESPN3 hits campus.

How about finally upgrading the field to the status of a decent HS infrastructure? Stands that are up to code, a concession stand, etc?

Got me stumped there. Would like to see that as the program deserves it! I'd email athletics about that one.

If you're going to email about such things, then send a check too.

Ohio softball is 6-3 so far with two of its three losses by one run to major programs (Virginia and Virginia Tech). The other loss was 8-0 to South Carolina. Ohio also has a win against Virginia. After a year off with an injury, Savannah Jo Dorsey has a 2.24 ERA with 57 strikeouts in 34 1/3 innings with opponents batting .136 against her. Mikayla Cooper is hitting .500.

Ohio softball has won 5 of its last 6 and is 11-7. The one loss in that span was in extra innings and wins include victories over Indiana and Texas Tech. Home opener is Wednesday against Wright State.

Ohio went undefeated in the North Carolina State DoubleTree RDU Invitational. Swept the field (2-1 in 9 over IUPUI, 2-0 over NC State, and 4-3 over Bryant) in round robin play, then beat Bryant 3-2 to get to the title game, which was won 2-1 in 8 innings. Three of the wins were walk-off wins.

The Bobcats have won eight in a row and 10 of the last 11 and now are 16-7 on the year. They have a doubleheader against Marshall on Tuesday and then open MAC play with a home series next weekend against Western Michigan.

Nothing much posted on softball, but Ohio finished the regular season strong, winning seven of its final nine MAC games, after a stretch of some struggles and took the #3 seed for the MAC Tournament, which begins today. Ohio has had the best pitching in the league, so that always gives them a chance. The offense has been spotty. Ohio faces #6 Akron at 6 today. The tournament is simple double-elimination and runs through Saturday.

Ohio reached the title game with a 2-1 win against Northern Illinois but lost 3-0 to Miami, the second time in the tournament the RedHawks shut them out.

The Bobcats opened with a 3-1 win over Akron. Madison Claytor had a two-run double in the 6th.

Then probably was the biggest game of the tournament, with Miami beating Ohio 3-0 in 15 innings. Ohio managed 4 hits in 46 at-bats. Even so, Ohio had its chances. It left the bases loaded in the 13th. Miami wasn't much better until the 15th. That dropped the Bobcats into the losers' bracket and the RedHawks followed with a win over NIU to get to the title game.

Ohio stayed alive with an 8-5 win in an extra inning against Western Michigan. Ohio trailed 2-0 until getting a run in the 5th to finally end their scoreless drought and then scored 4 in the top of the seventh to take the lead, only for the Broncos to tie it in the bottom of the 7th. Ohio won it with 3 more runs in the 8th. Mikayla Cooper had 4 RBIs and Claytor had 2.

Then Friday night, the Bobcats beat top-seeded Kent State 2-1. Mikayla Cooper's 2-run homer in the 1st held up.

This morning, Ohio beat NIU 3-1 to get to the championship game. Dorsey threw a 2-hitter with 13 strikeouts, and Morgan Geno drove in 2 runs.

Miami got a 1st-inning run and 2 in the 5th. The Bobcats did not score on Miami and had just 8 hits in 22 innings in the 2 games. Ohio needed to beat Miami twice.

It was a good run, and Ohio played well at the end of the year. Dorsey came back from sitting out most of last year with an injury and broke her own school record for strikeouts. Through yesterday, she was 2nd in the nation with 319 on the year.

Ohio really only had two seniors, and both were somewhat part time. Sloan Walker started 36 of 60 games, and Amanda Dalton started 37 games. Dorsey was given a medical redshirt for last season and is eligible to return for next year. The Bobcats should be very good again next season with hopefully an improved offense.

UpSan, thanks very much for the summary. I appreciate the recap. Hopefully, they can improve next year. Losing to Miami in the final game should leave a bad taste in their mouths and be motivation for improvement!
