Consider yourself incredible fortunate and very much in the minority to not know anyone that suffers from mental illness, depression, etc. Actually you most certainly do, but they are not letting on.

You obviously don't know anything about me or my family.

My brother was a vet who suffered from PTSD.

He was also bi-polar and thanks to his years in the
military he became an alcoholic.

He died from burns and smoke inhalation from a fire that started in his
apartment when he passed out smoking on his couch.

According to the news, Kneeland's family knew he was suicidal.

Question is, did anyone they do anything to try and help him ?

Well, we are now suddenly 1 point underdog after being a 2.5 or so point favorite all week. It will be interesting to see who goes off as the favorite.

Worst week to play them as well.

I'm sure they're going to have a tribute to the guy who just died and that extra motivation, at home... cards against us at the moment.

Head Coach, Lance Taylor: "My heart is absolutely broken... Tragic. No matter how you slice it.

According to the news this morning,, his family said he had a history of mental illness.

If this was known, why didn't his family or the NFL make sure he got treatment ?

Men, especially young men, are the least likely group to ask for help. Factor in profession, race, etc... the 1% of the 1%.

I agree 100%.

But I would think if the family told the NFL they could have made sure he got
treatment.

From I what I've read that day his girlfriend called law enforcement and told them he had a history of mental illness and was worried he would "end it all.

I thought the NFL does all kinds of psychological tests on players.
How could they not pick up on this ?

Their quarterback, Broc Lowry, is a Canfield graduate. He played a few games as a freshman at Indiana a few years back but when Kurtis and Cignetti went there he transferred to Western. I saw him in high school against my hometown team. He is the only player in Ohio history to lead his team in passing, rushing and receiving in a state title game when Canfield went 13-0 his senior year. He was also an All-Ohio free safety. Tough kid.

Assistance could have been offered and offered many times. But the person himself has to take that opportunity. I'm pretty sure the NFL can't stop someone from playingg if they refuse their help with this sort of treatment.

I would think if a person is mentally unstable the NFL could act the same way they do with a physical injury and not let that person play until their doctors are satisfied the person isn't a danger to himself or others.

I know I had to do that with my brother.
My brother stopped taking his meds. We had him involuntarily committed for a mental evaluation.
He wasn't released until they made sure he was back on his meds.

They kept him till he was medically (Mentally)stable.

This week is going to be very important in the title chase but I’m not sure it will decide much except if WMU wins they are a virtual lock. From there who knows.

He may well have been under treatment. It's very common for people under treatment for mental health issues to think "I'm doing great. I don't need these medicines anymore." At that point, there is often an episode, and bad things sometimes happen.

Parker makes me nervous passing tonight. He’s starting down Chase a little too much. Others will become open if the defense worries about Chase

This is really a game for Bangura and Brune. Navarro can run, great, but don't force him to pass the ball. Time of Possession...
