We all know turnovers play a key role in football games, as they have for Ohio this season. But not in the way any fan would expect.

Navarro has 8 interceptions on the year with 3 v. WVU, 1 v. BG, 1 v. NIU, 2 v. EMU and 1 tonight v. Miami (along with a lost fumble). All of those were Bobcat wins.

In OUr three losses? No interceptions.

Stop taking Bangura out when he’s on fire which is anytime they give him room to make a yard

Shoutout to the crowd. Looks and sounds really big on a cold Tuesday night in November.

On top of what also appeared to be a rowdy crowd last night for the basketball opener, the fans -- in particular the students -- are really bringing it. Go Cats!

I agree, both nights were great and I hope it continues! The students showed out this week. Awesome job!

According to Rodney Harris in the post game press conference, Chuck Martin told him he wasn’t good enough for Miami coming out of high school.

Nice seeing many on the basketball team "chilling" in Peden last night, a friendly bunch with lots of school spirit.

Man were we fortunate. Last Miami drive leading to a punt and Finn had a WIDE open receiver that he didn't see even though he was looking that way. Then on the Harris TD OUr lineman holds/tackles a defender and moments later it looked like Harris pushed off to make that catch. Oh, well it couldn't happen to a nicer opponent.

What a kickoff return--MACtion at its finest. I was getting a little tired of watching Finn escape on nearly every pass rush, he is a load to bring down and man he fires a beautiful looking long aerial.

Sieh hit the 17 carry threshold. 17 for 102 yards.

OU is now 18-4 in games where Sieh has at least 17 touches.

Women's team was there, too. I entered the stadium right behind the Garnett sisters and some others.

I don't think that was a hold. Trick was tripped/tackled from behind by his own teammate. That's what I saw on the replay anyway. Live it definitely looked like a blatant hold.

Finn was a magician in the MACC a few years ago when he was at Toledo and I was concerned he would do more of the same when I saw Miami snagged him out of the portal. He made some nifty plays last night but the good guys won when it was all said and done!

Also struggling to see a push off on Rodney. Looks like he made contact with hips in a basketball, box-out move, and the DB fell.

Don't forget the MASSIVE penalty on the game winning drive. On 3rd and 14 on the Ohio 36, Navarro was sacked for 10 yards which would have made it 4th and 24 from the Ohio 26 with just over 2:00 left. But there was a face mask penalty by Miami. Had that face mask not occurred, Ohio probably loses. I don't think Miami could have played a better game defensively overall. But that penalty, coupled with the kickoff for a TD and stopping Miami on the goal line were the difference in the game. If Miami doesn't stumble vs Toledo, I think Ohio and Miami are going to meet again in Detroit. With the same result as last year. Ohio is clearly in Miami's head after last year's MACC and then last night.

What a great night in Peden! One of the most electric and engaged crowds in memory.

As an aside, I watched the replay this morning on one of the ESPNs off of Disney+. The replay was just as satisfying as the real thing. The student cheer on the variation of Muck Fiami came across on the broadcast. Was surprised the play by play did not mention it.

Finn looked very tentative to run and also hesitant to throw downfield, he doesn't look like the same runner/passer he was at Toledo. On one of Miami's drives where they had a 3rd and 4, Finn rolled out looking for a receiver, and had an easy first down in front of him on the ground if he wanted it, but didn't take it. When he came off the field Martin was clearing asking him why he didn't just run it. I was wondering the exact same thing. Ohio's defense did a very good job on him, but that's not the same explosive dual-threat Finn from his Toledo days out there right now.

Hauser did a great job keeping a spy on Finn, but it wasn't always the same guy. Sometimes Fries, sometimes Hollobaugh, sometimes Christopher, or even a Dlineman in a zone blitz. Seems like it confused Finn and made him hesitant to take off. BTW, hats off to those guys. Great speed and tackling ability in the open field!

If you look at the replay that facemask grab was what prevented Navarro from escaping the pocket and probably completing a pass downfield. So, it's not like he was going to be sacked and an inadvertent facemask penalty saved our asses. The facemask hold allowed the sack and prevented the play from developinng.

This was the difference in the game. Miami tried to use leverage to contain Navarro and we used multiple spies.

Correct, that play was going for 40 yards at least.

Wild crazy frustrating awesome game. Had a great time on a beautiful November evening. A perfect 6-0 at Oeden appears imminent (yes I am looking past Umass, they are awful).

Hats off to the students, really good turnout and a solid amount stuck it out 'til the end. This after what I thought was a great turnout for the basketball opener. The F Miami chants were loud, proud and well executed. Many painted chests, signs, etc. I have more hope about this current student fan base than I have in the last 15 years...Hope they keep it up. The excitement spilled uptown, several OU Oh Yeah chants.

The pass interference call was one of the most crushing and awful calls I can remember. It was a massive game changing call, and absolutely terrible.

But, on the game winner we had an extremely egregious hold as the throw was being delivered. Unforgivable for them to have missed it. So we call it even?

The facemask penalty was huge too, but not oly was it legit but it affected our opportunity to make a throw downfield as Parker was in the process of escaping as he so often does.

Parker looked off much of the night. No doubt poor protection at times, and poor routes / good coverage at other times...but how many times did he drop back and just not deliver the football? Seemed hesitant and timid. His incredible elusiveness was as present as ever though.

Very exciting win, but not exactly a performance that has us rolling with confidence going into WMU. The way we have performed on the road, it's going to be a difficult hurdle to clear.

Almost 2pm and I still haven't come down from the high of last night. Another fantastic atmosphere at The Frank. The students were loud and the Bobcat Blackout was awesome, I would say almost 100% participation.

Hats off to everybody who stayed for the entire game, it was cold and those 3 min TV timeouts are a massive buzz kill. Special win with explosive plays and huge defensive stops.

Bangura is one of my all time favorite Bobcats, thank god the Gophers didn't think he was good enough. Would love to see him get a ring to cap off a great career.

Thanks for the link.  I particularly liked this comment from a poster calling himself DevilGrad:

A lot of us here are of a Miami vintage where you just expected OU to suck every year. That hasn’t been the case for a long time. They’ve been good under three coaches in a row; that’s the sign of a program that has been rebuilt correctly.

On the broadcast last night, I learned that the Bobcats have lost only once at Peden in the last four seasons (to Miami). Last night stunk and it was disappointing to see untimely mental errors that I thought this program had left behind, but we played a good MACTION squad to the wire at a place that has become a fortress. Miami’s task now is to clean up the mistakes and keep things alive for Detroit while, longer term, trying to figure out how to make Oxford as tough a road game as Athens has become.

Miami v Toledo will be a dogfight. Toledo has the best scoring D in the conference right now. I think the winner of next week’s OU-WMU game probably gets one spot in the championship game. I don’t like our chances in a multi-team tiebreaker because if it comes down to common opponent Ball State, we are in trouble.

This is probably at least partially a statistical anomaly, and partially playing better defenses on the road more than them really being THAT different away from their own house, but Toledo's offense has been unstoppable and home and a complete dud on the road. They are averaging 49 points at home and 15 on the road.
