If I’m not mistaken the Bobcats were undefeated in 1960 and Division II national champions.

Great news, but not sure this would be the greatest year in Ohio history. In 1968 we were 10-1, MAC Champs, AND ranked in the Top 20.

The official name of the division at that time was the "College Division." What is now FBS was called the "University Division." Strange terminology when schools like Boston University were in the College Division; while Boston College was in the University Division.

If you didn't see it already the presser with Cromer. She said she completed two rounds of interviews for the HC position.

So pumped for this hire - feels like it hits in all the right places.

A perfect fit both for Smith and Ohio.

What a day at the Convo.....Wow!

It was nice to hear about how thorough they were conducting the search to the point they even got input from some of the current players. Very nicely done with no time wasted.

And have faith that this is an UPGRADE in command and perhaps at a slightly lower contract than the predecessor..

Go BOBCATS!

I thought Julie C. did a great job explaining her choice. Just wish she hadn't joined the conference from a basement utility room with stained ceiling.

i think we would have been better off with a proper press conference and introductory celebration after returning to Athens. Even if they had to wait until the new year.

My gut tells me that this is the guy who can take us to the next level. We won't be able to keep him for long, and we'll always have our $ limitations, but I'm very optimistic.

His MACC game plan utterly embarrassed and demoralized a very good defense.

Sometimes events that look bad at first turn out for the better in the long run.

With the football culture we've built up under Solich and Albin, I'm glad we are continuing trend that with the internal hire of Coach Smith. He seems like a good offensive mind and someone who can connect with the remaining players and be a solid recruiter. I will be interested in who remains from the staff also.

Another thing great about Smith, first words out of his mouth were the culture and what Frank and Tim built here. He knows this isn't a rebuild. He's not going to rebuild it. He even says it was built brick by brick. After Tim left he gave out bricks to some players. (I forget the criteria, but its something that has been done for years). He's picking up the mantle and he's ready to go.

I've been banging this drum for a while now, and I'm excited as hell to see what he can do here.

He’s way more aggressive than Tim. Tim never would’ve went for that 4th and 1.

Well done, Julie Cromer. Smith and Hauser secured. Continuity and momentum safely at Ohio’s back. And a team playing with its hair on fire for Coach Smith in Orlando.

More money than Albin was making and almost as much as he’s making at Charlotte?

More signs that he made a terrible decision.
