Damn near a perfect game. O line was blocking well. Only one turnover. Passing plays that went downfield. Defense came up big in the red zone, plus a pick-six and a pick-two (have we ever had a pick-two before? I think we blocked a PAT and ran it back once, but I don't remember Ohio getting a pick-two before). Most points scored by Ohio all season. And we still haven't given up a first quarter TD this season; just 12 pts in eight games. Oh, and I think only one penalty for five yds (delay of game).

3-1 MAC play but don't control destiny w/ MOFO loss and WMU is still undefeated. Root against Miami and WMU because if they both lose one more Ohio could win out and make the MACC.

Most Memorable Bobcat Events Attended
2010 97-83 win over Georgetown in NCAA 1st round
2012 45-13 victory over ULM in the Independence Bowl
2015 34-3 drubbing of Miami @ Peden front of 25,086

This was a “breakout win” for me. The offense was clicking, the 4 and 1 call on out 42 was something I never expected. Defense was bend but not break. Pic 6 with a pic 2 go boot. If we play like this going forward we will be okay. Great game- worth the 1300 mile trip.

Is there anywhere to watch the replay of this game? Easy if the game is on an ESPN product, bit more tricky with CBS Sports.

Yawn….wake me up when Buffalo wins a game in Athens. I said it before the game and I’ll say it again - Buffalo can’t win at Ohio. Period. This game went exactly as I expected. An Ohio win. Never in doubt.

Type of game that can start a 4 or 5 game road like we did in 2006 after Illinois. A complete game with all 3 phases producing at a high rate can build confidence for the rest of the season.

Bring on November!

Still a race for 2nd w/… unbelievable… Miami and likely… I can’t believe I’m saying it… BG. That win over Toledo is huge for a lot of reasons, but mostly bc even if we beat Toledo, BG drops another to WMU - they win the tie breaker.

Basically, We just can’t lose again. And hope WMU beats BG. And BG beats Miami.

We really need NIU to get on a mean streak and try to rebound from the roller coaster season. Western next week. Miami a few weeks after.

There is still some wiggle room, but by losing to Miami we really killed ourselves - again.

Miami: 3-1
Balls
Kent
NIU
BG

Toledo: 2-2
EMU
CMU
OU
Akron

OU: 3-1
Kent
EMU
Toledo
Balls

BG: 3-1
CMU
WMU
Balls
Miami

WMU: 4-0
NIU
BG
CMU
EMU

The two Point Conversion interception return was ESPN’s “Dos Equis Go For 2” play of the day.

I was willing to give up on Navarro before Saturday's game. Hats off to Albin for sticking with him. It goes to show that there is a reason why he is getting paid to coach football and I am not. Congratulations to the Bobcats! Excellent win!!

I don't want to sound down on our guys. Who knows? Poulas might become the next Great Ohio QB, but I don't understand what we have seen out of him that would cause me to think a switch would help. Navarro didn't play well against Miami. That I'll grant everyone. He played absolutely terribly again Morgan State but it was obvious there was something wrong. He couldn't get anything on his passes at all. To me that more on the staff for putting him out there if they were seeing that in practice. Perhaps he hurt is hand at the start of that game.

Looking over the box score, this was a game of “1’s”
Only 1 turnover ( been averaging 2)
One pick six ( is that our first all year?)
One pick two ( that happens once every 20-30 years maybe)
Only 1 FG ( we usually have to settle for more because we haven’t been able to finish drives)
Only 1 kickoff return ( rest were fair catches- we usually have more that average only about 20 yards)
Only I penalty ( that’s a miracle based on the games to date)
Only had 1 TFL against us ( been averaging 4)

Travel to Athens from Cincinnati for the game yesterday. Have to admit I thought we weren’t going to win that one. However, Navarro played prettywell. The one thing about Navarro was he needs to be moving when he throws the ball. He is not a pocket passer. He missed one easy throw early that would’ve been a TD. But you put him in space and let him make a move and he can become very effective. Overall, a good trip and let’s go win the next one.

We only outgained them by about 100 yards and won the TO battle by 1. That's good, and you'll clearly win with that the vast majority of the time, but not usually by anything near 31 points. We had a HUGE edge in big and explosive type plays in this one.

Ohio stalled on its first scoring drive, settling for a 1st-quarter field goal. I remember telling my son that we need to finish drives with 6 (I know, a brilliant and unique critique) and the Bobcats did just that the remainder of the game.

The two of us also noticed UB kickoff returners automatically calling for a fair catch on the many Ohio kickoffs, those that went into the end zone as well as those that came up way short of the goal line. Ohio's Eamonn Dennis, on the other hand, fielded the kickoff in the end zone on the game's lone kickoff return.

Side note: Couldn't help but think of Jeff Jarrett and how he spelled his name for the WWE universe: "That's J-E-Double-F, J-A-Double-R, E-Double-T!"

"That's E-A-M-O-Double-N, D-E-Double-N-I-S!"

My buddies and I were wondering why Buffalo didn’t try to run more out (especially those that were short) when they got behind since they needed a spark and quick scores. Maybe they just don’t like the odds of running them out or don’t like their kickoff returners.
I remember in years past that we almost always ran them out without averaging 25 yards. I’m wondering if if finally changed our strategy on that. Of course Wilburn is gone too.

I was at the game. My brother said early on it looks like we are trying harder and harder with each successive kickoff to try to get then to return it and they are refusing. And we just kept kicking it shorter. I wonder if they turned it over on several return attempts early in the year l.

ESPN's "College Football Final" rang up a dollar to the Ohio student who missed the FG between the first and second quarters for one of the worst plays of the day.

But we did get the MAC's offensive POTW (Coleman Owen) and defensive POTW (Shay Tyler).

So glad that the Internet was far less capable and social media wasn't a thing during my formative years....

Big props to Coleman and Shay! That may have been the first Pick 2 in Ohio Football history?

I never know exactly what’s going on with remaining eligibility. I do think it was interesting to see who walked for Senior Day. Some surprises both ways.
