Gotta consider the opponent, LC. No?

Indeed, but how good is Fordham? We really don't know. Some here claim they will end up in the top 25 of FCS, while others point out that they were just an average FCS team last year. For that matter, how good was FAU? They blew out Charlotte, but lost badly to UCF, yet tonight they are giving Purdue a real battle, currently trailing 21-20 at the end of the third quarter.

Thus, it's impossible to draw reliable conclusions, and all we can do is guess. My guess is that the average opponent for the rest of the year will be somewhat less than the average they have faced so far. That leads me to guess that this year Ohio is going to have a lot of passing yards and score a lot of points, but they will also give up a lot of passing yards, and a lot of points.

At the current pace Rourke may set records in passing yards for a season, attempts for a season, completions for a season, and completion percentage for a season, and could also set records for most TD passes in a season and pass efficiency for a season.

On the flip side, Ohio is giving up nearly 45 points a game, on average, and that may very well be an Ohio record. Prior to this week, five teams were lower than Ohio in points given up per game, but after this week, Ohio may be last, or close. It's going to be tough to win 4 more games if they keep giving up 45 points a game.

BTC has been saying for a long time that Kurtis was a better passer than Nathan (but a worse runner). I see nothing that tells me that he's not correct.

We won. Here’s a song I sing to you:

Here's to those who love not too wisely, know not wisely, but too well
To the girl who sighs with envy when she hears that wedding bell
To the guy who'd throw a party if he knew someone to call
Here's to the losers, bless them all
Here's to those who drink their dinners when that lady doesn't show
To the girl who'll wait for kisses underneath that mistletoe
To the lonely summer lovers when the leaves begin to fall
Here's to the losers, a-bless them all
Hey, Tom, Dick and Harry, come in out of the rain
Those torches you carry must be drowned in champagne
Here's the last toast of the evening, here's to those who still believe
All the losers will be winners, all the givers shall receive
Here's to trouble-free tomorrows, may your sorrows all be small
Here's to the losers, bless them all

Ohio's top rushers today, other than Rourke, were McCormick, Toledo and Neatherton. Are all three walk-ons or former walk-ons? If so, can any other team in the country make that claim?

Well...
Gotta be some record to throw 6 TD passes and average 45 yards per TD reception!!!!

Game ball to the Special Teams. Without the kick return the Bobcats lose for the second year in a row to a lesser conference.

Nope, my lsat posts about the defense was questioning other BA posters who had said that our defense would be markedly improved because of the schemes of the new DC. I also said that only good thing I'd seen our defense do in the last two games were some sacks.

If you wanna gives ST game ball they don’t deserve it. Vakos did what he does. KO return TD nice but should lost that pooch, FOrdham should of recovered. At this point everyone knows what’s coming but deep man still set up on the GL. No game balls, maybe the green guy gets on or give him a scholarship to play D

No more Ohiolyfe bs…..,said Gimme Austin Brawley, CJ Hankins, Adonis Williams and other young guys we had a better chance.

Not long after Adonis did come in more an had one of bigger sticks we seen and only gave up 1 catch, 7 yard catch in man…which shame on them for thinkin we could consistently match up in man.

Hoban my team but these dudes above all seen and they players, it’s in they blood and a few played better competition in high school. Yeah I sit here tonight and watch Miyan Williams amd Jayden Ballard which hurts….only time seen Miyam play in HS CJ beat on for a half til Williams left game Ohio need them dawgs…U seen it from Adonis who gave up one short catch and has one of the best hits of yr. Get them fdawgs that just keep they mouth shut an play hard and stay locked in. Then Brawley went against Ballard everyday in practice the man skills are there, you see it I know you do. High school different but dang that was bad bad. . Keye a dawg and the heartbeat at LB so I get no Hankins but you not gonna roll with Brawley and Williams early on after that sh’’. Don’t Tell me it’s depth make a move..

Exploited half that secondary over and over. Very disappointed With DL, nobody won matchups and 1 sack, 1 sack!!

Northwestern fan forum voicing similar things to this board.

"Fitz might have to take a hike. This is atrocious!!!!! He is not only killing his hard work that led to 2015-18, he is killing the program. If we have only a two or three win season, he needs to trash his staff at the very least. It is like he has lost his mojo big-time. Never have seen this type of program collapse without severe sanctions before. Guy has to man up and take some real responsibility for this. Damn, this is sad."

Defensive staff is likely gone at end of season unless they turn things around in a hurry. Head coach might be gone too if they can't fix the defense. They haven't stopped anything in four games. Kent State will put big numbers on us.

So, what happened to all those great new schemes that Nowinsky was supposedly bringing to Athens? At the time he was hired I expressed doubt that we'd get anything good out of Oxford. I'm beginning to think I was right.

In terms of size, Kent State looked like a middle school team playing an NFL team, yet they hung with Georgia all day long. I would not be surprised if they put up 70 points on us.

70 was the number I was thinking. Jeff Boals has better odds to hold Kent State under 70 than Albin does. Kent State is a very good team. They got a good defense too. They made Oklahoma and Georgia struggle at times. Next week will ugly. Kent State won't pull the starters like Penn State and Iowa State did. They will run it up on us. FAU didn't have a great passer so we surived that one. Teams with a decent QB are going to gut this defense.

A lot of doom and gloom in this thread. There’s not a poster out there that thought Ohio would have a better record than what they have right now; no one predicted a 3-1 or 4-0 record, no one.

Marshall and Appalachian State, two media darlings just a short 2 weeks go after having beaten Notre Dame and Texas A&M, have just lost 3 out of 4 games; APSU just lost to James Madison at home and Marshall’s lost 2 games in a row.

The point is, the way this season’s playing out so far in college football, who knows who’s going to win one week from the next. Take the win and move on to Kent State and let’s see what happens.

I'm choosing to subscribe to this philosophy for now. We almost lost that game yesterday due to mental and execution errors on defense. The Fordham quarterback is very good (could start for a G5 team of his choosing, and maybe a P5 or two). On most of their touchdowns yesterday, all he had to be was relatively accurate because receivers were running free due to defensive errors. That can be potentially corrected. For the rest of the season's sake, those need to be corrected very quickly.

I though the same thing about the defense. Fixing blow coverages is doable. The team was lucky these were exposed in this game rather than during conference play. I felt differently a few years ago when Howard exposed the abilities of the DBs individually.

I have read all of the BA threads. Most of the thoughts went thru my mind at some point during yesterday's titanic struggle. I actually stopped watching after the questionable call on Rourke's fumble. My boys were texting me to tune back in but I didn't have the desire. The disappointment of our program's fall and the intended separation of the P5 to the FBS teams is chipping away at my desire to watch.

Glad we won. The program seems to have no direction. I have zero faith the AD will or could do anything about it. When Boals arrives at a P5 campus, I feel like we can pull off the upset. When Albin arrives at a P5 campus, I just hope we limit injuries.

I have never witnessed, at any level, a defense blow that many coverage TD's and not adjust. When I watch some of the other MAC Teams, they pass the eye test. We do not.

Props to McCormick, Toledo and Neatherton for for piecing together a decent effort. McCormick could really be a decent backup to Bangura. We may need to just outscore our opponents at this point forward.

On to Kant I guess.

I watched the defensive coordinator and secondary coach sit down with said player after each occurrence. They finally gave up and pulled him midway through Q3.

My biggest disappointment by far was the defensive line. Zero pressure on the QB most of the game.

I assume we're talking about OUr #30, a linebacker-turned-safety this off-season, on their #1. If so, it's a matchup Ohio coaches should never put #30 in. Total mismatch.

One of the many reasons Albin cannot stay. The direction of the program is in free fall. Every MAC team is hanging with P5’s… OU just got absolutely carved up by a 6-5 FCS team.
