Why have we not been receiving updates on spring ball?

Spring practice is over as the Bobcats completed the last scrimmage Saturday, March 20.

A mixture of covid limitations, the Messenger letting Arkley go, and the Athletics Dept dropping the ball. Maybe we'll find out something before the season starts.

Why can't The Post write a Spring Ball summary?

Great idea as The Post sportswriters should do this.

I plan to drop my subscription to the Messenger because of no spring football practice coverage. I have been a subscriber for a few years largely because of Arkley’s comprehensive coverage of both basketball and football. I do not reside in Athens County so with their rate increase, and accompanying less Bobcats coverage, it’s not an appealing formula for me.

Perhaps no outsiders, including media, were permitted to attend spring practice.

Yeah, I know it’s different right now. But really, not even a telephone, let alone a video interview, with Solich, or maybe one of the coordinators, to generate a story?

Seems odd that the football season ticket drive was launched at this time. If there was no plan to talk about the program it puts a crimp on marketing tickets.

The Athletics Dept should at least have had an end-of-spring press conference. Maybe because of covid practices were limited so there isn't much to report, but it would be good to at least hear what the coaches are thinking.

For a press conference you need a press, do you not?

If they had called a press conference (and I'm assuming they didn't), at least Arkley, the Post and probably Channel 4 likely would've Zoomed in. Maybe a few others as well.

Best wishes to Darfnell as he wasn't going to play much for the Bobcats. Hopefully he catches on with someone closer to his home state of Florida.

You didn’t appreciate the random highlights set to music? It’s like stick a mic in a player or coaches face and ask how practice is going. Absolutely no content at all this Spring

Both Basketballs in post season play, Volleyball, Soccer, field hockey, baseball, track, softball and golf all competing. Cant imagine why the athletic dept not putting out info on football practice?

Can you imagine what it's like at schools at all levels where spring football games are being played?

So whatever they are working on the football team has gotten even better at vague and peculiar answers. Must be a new missile program or laser guided system. I didn't hear very much information that adds to what I already knew.
Amani is a good runner and Rourke is a good passer. Defensive line could be better.
Solich, Albin and Collins seemed challenged at time to find the words that said absolutely nothing meaningful.

Nice try Russ but those guys aren't talking.

Frank did say the defense has good speed and they are good tacklers. Feels there is depth on both lines and that the D may be the best we’ve had in a while. Russ asked Ron Collins for a couple of names who have made impressions/stepped up. I think he mentioned four; all on the D-line...Dugan, Mathews, Taylor (the Villanova transfer), and Daxon. Mentioned Denzil has a ways to go because of lack of reps but thinks he’ll be a good one.

Here’s one way:

ohiobobcats.com —> go to drop down list —> multimedia —> Live events —> On Demand —> First listing: Bobcat Football Live.

Begins at about the 11:30 mark.
