Once again, it's who you know.

How do you get that? the guy has proven he can win, he's got solid values and is a good person.

And how many people do you think Frank brought with him when he came here that he nor his key assistants did not know or had worked with? That's not a hire based on who you know, but rather who fits what you are trying to do.

But his track record above D2 is awful -- 10-30. And unfortunately in the NFL it's results that matter, not values or being a good person. I wish him well, but if he didn't have connections he wouldn't even get the time of day from any NFL team.

He's won the same number of MAC titles as OHIO.

No. Ohio won in 1968 and several times before that.

In the same amount of time 🤦🏼‍♂️

Well, if you're talking in the same amount of time then he also has as many MAC championships as Buffalo, BG, CMU, EMU, Kent, NIU, Toledo and WMU -- zero. Having no championships and just one win in 18 tries is not a good endorsement for him.

Talk about looking for a challenge! The most successful of the last six Kansas coaches was Turner Gill with a .211 winning percentage. On the positive side he won't be at Buffalo.

What’s the over/under on how many years he lasts at Kansas? Hope he’s getting Charlie Weis type money so he can enjoy his retirement when his coaching career is declared dead in the Kansas coaching graveyard.

They really should consider leaving the B12. Since 2010 they're 6-91 (.062) in conference games. At least they're almost .500 (14-17) OOC in that time. Maybe joining a G5 conference or even going independent would help them get more competitive schedules.

Well Kansas got rid of Jeff Long at AD, so that was already a big first step for them. It really depends on the new AD having reasonable expectations on what this job is. It's a literal, gut it to the studs, multi-year rebuild. It could be 2030 before we actually see what this job could be. Long basically buried this program into the ground by calling out minor NCAA infractions under David Beatty just to save his ass on the basketball side's own investigation. Then he made it worse by hiring Les Miles to pump some fake juice into the program. It's a messsss.

Personally I would have went with Jeff Monken at Army. You're never gonna get the talent to compete by using the same types of offenses that other Big 12 teams run. Had they opted for the triple option (or some variation of it - Monken said he would tweak it at a bigger job), you give defenses something different to prepare for.

But the triple option gets a bad rap at the Power 5 level because Paul Johnson was such a prickly a-hole about running the true option at Georgia Tech. Other schools like Georgia Southern and Coastal Carolina have option principles while also incorporating other schemes and formations.

But Leipold is probably the next best alternative. If they give him time - like at least 5 years, then he could make some chicken salad out of chicken sh*t.

Why on Earth would they ever do that when they're constantly winning the Big 12 in basketball? The money is too high to leave just because one sport can't get their act together.

Until the NCAA totally eliminates blocking below the waste.

30 years ago all of this could've been said of Kansas St. Bill Snyder probably turned around a program that was just as bad as Kansas is today. Maybe he has a strategy and an administration that is willing to back him up.

Yes Kansas has been very bad at football the past dozen years or so. Should Duke leave the ACC because they will never win an ACC football championship? Nope, they usually dominate in ACC hoops just like the Jayhawk basketball team constantly wins in the Big 12. Anyone have an idea the last time Kentucky football played in an SEC title game? They aren't going to depart the SEC in basketball anytime soon. Lots of cash in these power conferences. Vandy won't be looking to leave the SEC with the cash they get yearly even though they will never win an SEC championship.

It's not about winning championships; it's about being competitive. Both Duke and Kentucky are consistently competitive in their conferences, and even Vandy has won more conference games in the last five years than Kansas has won in the last ten. And, arguably, Vandy is in a tougher conference. Sure, there's lots of cash in the "P" conferences, but they also need to keep donors happy. They can't continue asking alumni and other backers to keep on shelling out cash and still field a football team that's not only the worst in their conference, but also one of the worst in the nation. This might be starting to drag down other programs. The Kansas b-ball team failed to win its conference in two of the last three seasons, finishing third two years ago. And they didn't get past the 2nd round in either of the last two NCAA tourneys, losing badly in both (by 14 to Auburn two years ago and by 24 to USC this year).

Kansas isn't leaving the Big 12. Rutgers is bad in football, but they won't be looking to get out of the Big 10. The money these schools get in the power five conferences is mind boggling.
