They must have arranged it with ESPN to keep the Tuesday and Wednesday games as Nov 4 is a Wed.

Good news. Probably 3 home 3 away. No fans allowed.
All in all it is acceptable to punch our ticket for 2020.

Probably some Thursday and Friday games too, since we've had them in the past.

Saturday-only games in Dec are probably to avoid games on final exam days. Toledo's finals are the week of Nov 30; Ohio's are the week of Dec 7. Haven't checked the others. It's not an NBA issue; it doesn't start until Christmas. College b-ball dates haven't been set yet.

Based on what the schedules originally were, the easiest schedule for crossover games is Ohio at CMU, Buffalo at NIU, BG at Toledo, WMU at Kent, EMU at Fiami and BSU at Akron (originally scheduled to be at BSU).

If, by some chance, we win the MAC, does it come with an * ?

While I am pleased that there will be football this fall I am not pleased that there will not be fans in the stands.
We have seen other college games with fans and therefor it is my hope that this current decision is changed in a few weeks after the conference sees more games with fans.
With a 6 game schedule it looks like we will only play teams in our division.

I think it’s more of an interesting footnote. 6 games plus a championship is close enough to a full MAC slate to feel legitimate IMO

In fact, with no OCC and no bowls the MACC seems MORE important

As long as all of the division games are played I see no reason at all to think that it is not legitimate. The real question is how likely is it that all of the games are played?

I imagine there will be TV opportunities for almost all games. The MAC can keep those November midweek TV games, and then in December, there will be a limited number of teams still playing.

We won't have the mid week game embarrassing attendance issue. Everyone has an empty stadium.

SEC plays through Dec 5 and the Big 10 and PAC 12 play through the 19th so there will still be lots of games on in December too.

There are six teams in each division, so each team plays five divisional games. That means there should be one crossover game unless each team plays one team in its division twice, which would be unfair to some teams. Playing one crossover game against a team that was on the original schedule may be unfair, but there's less to complain about unless you're a Nebraska fan.

My guess is that the "no fans" rule will be revisited as we get close to the start of the season. At least eight of the schools are in states that allow some fans at games, A lot depends on whether the curve goes flat again over the next month.

Three or four conferences out of 11 playing at that point is a lot less than the usual competition for TV.

I am certainly hoping that no team will play with less than 7 days between games.
I remember Ohio had a number of years where they played with only 5 days between games.
IMO there is no acceptable reason for this kind of a schedule ever.

Agree 100% 71 Bobcat. Sometimes schools may play on the Saturday before Thanksgiving and play the Friday after Thanksgiving, but that should be it. Never on five days.

I'm just going to be honest here, it's absolutely preposterous that the MAC is going to play a 6-game football season. Like it doesn't even qualify as futilely stupid.

Make a decision and freaking stick with it. Decision makers are such cowards. have the conviction to make the right call the first time, or leave the job.

The Detroit Free Press ran an article discussing issues CMU is having with players' availability. They have several opt-outs for covid and several other players otherwise unavailable. McElwain says his roster is down about 20 players, so he's having players learn the other side of the ball. WRs are practicing as DBs and linemen are playing offense and defense. https://sports.yahoo.com/central-michigan-football-player...

Does anybody know where we stand regarding opt-outs, etc?

I wonder if this means MAC teams won't be eligible for the playoff?

Saw where Buffalo has 19 kids with it currently. At most, you have 2 weeks to get your house in order in terms of this stuff or else games will be forfeited and will make this look foolish. Here's to hoping they got the tests needed to do what they need to do, or they will legit look stupid

Wow. Here are the PROS and CONS:

Pros
* Athletes will increase their draft or signing chances with multiple positions on file.
* Might find out that an athlete actually fits better at a different position than what the staff originally thought.
* Can use the low numbers as a recruiting tool

CONS
*Fatigued by end of game
*Increase in injuries
*Decrease in morale if loses pile up
*Passive coaching style to save athletes body for postseason opportunities
*Opted-out athletes will lose 1/2 year of experience against live competition.

Kind of wish they are our crossover game for 2020.

They should be, if the MAC holds to the original schedule. We should have three divisional home games and two road games, which means we'd need a road crossover game. Our original schedule had games at Toledo and CMU. Assuming that the MAC would keep the BG-Toledo game intact, our crossover game should be at CMU.

They have been working out and practicing for over a month, how would they be "fatigued" by the end of the game? They literally have had since August to get and be ready, and stuck on campus.
