Embarrasing for the kid or the university because they allowed a Hocking College student to be Rufus?

All the way around, from it being a non student, total lack of oversight and following rules, and IMO it was a bad event. It’s not good sportsmanship and in the spirit of the game.

Brutus; a monument that was taken down on the field!

The perp still drinks for free at many university taverns around the BIG!

Ohio marketing should be Brandon Hanning royalties. That picture is timeless. Will one day hang in Alden library archives a few administrations down the line. Rest In Peace to Vernon Alden

I found it embarrassing. Exactly what some would expect from a sibling with an inferiority complex.

The whole thing just screamed of little brother syndrome and then to have it go public that he wasn't even a student but had scammed his way into the mascot position. A quick google search brings up the incident immortalized on a website called, "This Day In Failure."

http://failuremag.com/this-day-in-failure/september-18

I also have a hard time believing that he (or anyone his age) is the Captain of a cruise ship. Four years ago, he was training to become a steersman on river barges. That would be one hell of a career trajectory.

https://www.columbusmonthly.com/article/20160503/LIFESTYL...

Here's what a quick search brought up on the basic requirements to become a cruise ship Captain:

"To become a cruise ship captain, you will need a high school diploma and a Bachelor's Degree (preferably in maritime studies). A Master's Degree is also required by most ships. You will need years of experience on a sea vessel, including outstanding on-the-job training."

Haven’t seen anyone rise-up the ranks that fast since Rufus went from fighting the Buffalo Bull to captivating the nation by punching out Brutus

When I text or email the image to my Buckeye friends they are speechless. The fact that it happened on their turf seems to add extra juice.

And the fact we lost the game and some how we think a cheap shot from a mascot is somehow a win. 🤦🏼‍♂️🤦🏼‍♂️🤦🏼‍♂️

Exactly. I fail to understand the pleasure so many of our fans take in this silly, juvenile display, when we were blown out in the game. Wasn't even competitive.

While I found it funny when it happened, it would have been much, much better had it actually been a successful attempt on his first try. The whiff on the first attempt - while also losing his head - was like watching a guy blow his first dunk attempt in a dunk contest. Making the second attempt always loses some luster after a failed first attempt. Same applies here.

Any word on whether OSU has us back on the rotation after the incident? If they don't, not only did MR. HANNING deprive the athletic department of a future million dollar payday but also deprived the football program of being able to use games at OSU as a recruiting tool for Ohio kids while all the other in-state schools will still be able to dangle that out there to them.

I had a lot of people ask me if I had done it. Don't know how he got the gig; I was Rufus at football games too.

What about the OSU fans that root for with a passing interest or more for OU? Do you think they would want to see us directly compete or like us more if we played an SEC school instead? Those MAC schools that play the Big Ten every year for the non conference game reinforce that tune up status.

Most Memorable Bobcat Events Attended
2010 97-83 win over Georgetown in NCAA 1st round
2012 45-13 victory over ULM in the Independence Bowl
2015 34-3 drubbing of Miami @ Peden front of 25,086

Oh come on. "Well you know, we'd love to have you back but that one random guy that did that completely harmless thing 10 years ago makes it a hard pass." Many of you are acting like this was a well thought out move by the University. It was just a guy doing a thing...No one was harmed. The story itself is hysterical. Relax.

Also, I know mascot heads should not change their emotion, but I swear every time I look at that picture I see Brutus frowning.
