Agreed, not surprising at all. In fact. I was surprised it didn't happen last year because Rourke came to Ohio with 3 years of eligibility as a qualifier (most JUCO's enter with 2 years of eligibility) and he's been the much better QB and wasn't/isn't losing the #1 spot. I've also heard Maxwell was being passed/pushed by two other QB's not named Rourke.

Wow, there is a reason I don’t follow or post in Bobcatattack much. I hope the players stay away from this site as well! The negativity towards players and the lack of knowledge. Throwing around accusations like “rumor has it he’s being passed up by others on the roster”. Do you know a thing about playing QB? Check your sources! Ask his teammates what they think of Maxwell. Just remember who the QB was that got them to the MAC East title in 2016 and got them to the MACC. Some want to say Windham. But Maxwell started the majority (All but two) of those games and Ohio won all the games he started and played except for CMU. Has Rourke won a MAC East title yet with what could be considered better OLine the last two years and a running game second to none in the MAC, NO. So instead of throwing out hate and disrespectful comments and telling an Ohio Bobcat Player that he should leave which is what you imply. Have some kind words and wish him well. I for one want to thank Maxwell for his efforts and the class he has shown while at Ohio and hope he lands somewhere that he has a chance to do what he wants to do.

I want to thank Q for everything he has done for OU first and foremost. He has come in when asked and has made big contributions. I didn't take OhioBobcat's comments as hate but I respect what you think OldBEARCat. Q could definitely start at another school with his decision to enter the portal. With how Rourke has been consistent majority of the time it limits Q's time and development. He has a big arm and the physical trait you want to see out of a pro-style QB. For his best development in my opinion I believe he would be better off somewhere else...not because he isn't good enough to be a BOBCAT...but because he will get more game time reps and more opportunities elsewhere. The only reason. And I think he maybe thinking the same thing. To me as a former player...when you have several awesome QBs, someone's playing time is going to suffer. It shows our recruiting has been stable and trending upwards. But he may not transfer. He may want to see his options. And I think Q deserves that!

I have always liked Maxwell, and I think he has progressed in his time. He wasn't highly recruited out of high school, but he came in, and without question worked very hard. When he was in the game, I always felt confident that he could get the job done. He did have a rough game against CMU in 2016, but what hurt him was that he struggled against Purdue in 2017, and when Rourke came in, he played very, very well, and never looked back. I hope Maxwell finds someplace where he can get more PT next year, and I wish him well.

I hope that if he leaves, he goes somewhere that he can play. He exceeded my expectations and proved recruiters wrong, he went from being 6-6 and averaging 109 yards a game in high school to a bonafide D1 QB. He has a big arm, if he controls his nerves, he can be a player. May God bless Q whether he stays or leaves.

Mr. Maxwell. You are a great competitor, Ohio's coaches saw it. Another small school athlete, almost "lost in the woods" of Missouri. Stay and I hope Albin has some two QB sets next season. Go and I wish you well, unless you are taking calls from coach Leipold. God Bless!

Here is an interesting side bar about any player who wants to transfer entering his senior season! They obviously need to sit out a year. If they worked hard and were able to graduate after 3 years then transfer and enter that schools grad program, a real win for the student. It could also be even better in that the player may also be able to not only receive a graduate degree but another bachelors degree as well. They have really set themselves up for entering the jopb market.

Another side bar. Who becomes the back up, Nathan's brother? He will have a real chance or if he is red shirted that he could come in the following year after Nathan graduates and we could have 7 years of the Rourke's @ QB.

I think everyone would love for Maxwell to stay but that's kind of selfish on our part. I hope he gets the opportunity to show what he can do.

Sounds like they went to the portal and listed every QB in it. I don’t think Maxwell is looking to sit on the bench there just to fill their spot.

Quinton can start in quite a few places if given the chance. Hope he finds the right place for him to shine.

Will he be a graduate transfer with immediate eligibility, or will he be an undergraduate transfer and have to sit out a year?

He’s supposed to graduate this spring per some reports, so I’m assuming he’ll play this year
Edit: I can’t find that source so that may not be correct.

Ted speaks the truth. We have several good quarterbacks that want to play football. That has not always been the norm at Ohio.

Best of luck to QM. He has represented us well (and still may...).

If he goes to another Division I school, it'll have to be a graduate transfer. He only has one year left.

Hopefully it doesn't matter and Nathan lights it up next season. I think Drew has the upper leg on Joe, being a year older. Either one could fill in nicely by looking at their tape on 247 sports. Would also love to redshirt Kurtis (thank God for the 4 game rule) as there will be a bit of a transition from the Canadian game

It came to me while watching KC vs Pats and Kent's former QB JE light it up I was hoping young Quinton would be a Bobcat hero at a different position. Knowing the offense and QB's always seem like they know where the open spot is in the defense. Tough and loyal Bobcat.

Sorry to see him go.

Maxwell has a MUCH better arm than Rourke..in fact he has a CANNON. Rourke runs the offense better as more of a duel threat. I think Q could be in an NFL camp if he gets a good season under him.

So I hope he stays too. But he is not a consistent performer, so he could wind up on somebody's bench if he can't step up. He has some issues with accuracy and he is not nearly as fast or elusive as Rourke.
But I do like him. He is big and strong guy. Maybe he winds up at a 1-AA program close to home. I just would hate to see him transfer and not get a chance to start. He is not an NFL prospect in my opinion.

I saw Q throw a deep out against Toledo that only 10-15 people in this world could have thrown with that velocity, he has an NFL arm. With the new QB protection measures, Nate can play as well at his size. Q will need to work on his nerves and Nate will have to work on his decision making. Q definitely has a cannon and he like Rourke is a heck of an athlete.

I do believe Quentin saved our bacon against Howard last year. Had that game gone south, I'm afraid to think what would have happened to the rest of the season. Thank you Q and best wishes however this turns out.

There's another timeline where Rourke doesn't come here and Maxwell is one of the better quarterbacks we've had. I thought he developed really well and gave the program big lifts when he came in. Wish him well. Hope he gets a bunch of reps and has a great season.
