Fellas we are losing the future of the program fast. I was already having dreams of headlines that read "Hometown boy makes good!" when neighboring Vinton County QB Naylan Yates ultimately leads the program to a MACC. It appears that isn't in the cards anymore. I saw a few of his passes during camp and it gave me chills seeing the kid sling the ball.

So what are your thoughts pertaining to the future of Ohio Football?

1. It's always disappointing to hear about a situation where a young student makes a mistake and it could potentially impact the rest of their life. I think we've all done some stupid stuff at OU, but for most of us, it didn't mean risking a potential scholarship, however...

2. I don't believe he had a scholarship. I thought he was a walk-on, so...

3. While a nice local player, I would think if he was the future Bobcat QB, he might have a scholarship locked up*, therefore...

4. I'm not particularly worried that the program will not rebound from a freshman walk-on QB getting suspended indefinitely.

*yes, I do understand there have been QBs that walked on and became star QBs (see Baker Mayfield)

Welcome Rakeem

You were a delight to watch even though the color green you wore was a little off; your sideline bombs to your speedy receivers were NEVER off!

He "allegedly" punched someone in the face and stole their cell phone in the alley next to Chipotle (Taco Bell/Varsity Theater).

The future? Time is a flat circle, my friend. Round and round it spins. What was yesterday is today and will be tomorrow.

So on a more positive spin for local players, who are your all time favorite/most successful Bobcats who hailed from Southeast Ohio?

I don't know if you consider Martins Ferry to be Southeast Ohio but Chad Brinker is my numero uno. Freddie Ray, too (who I believe is now coaching the Purple Riders?).

I can remembers on here being big on Adam Porter (again does Chillicothe count as SEO?)but I think that had more to do with his sister hehe.

The Green Brothers. Both played at Athens High, Ohio and one went on to start for the Bengals

Freddie is the 1st year HC of the Bulldogs of Bridgeport High School, which happens to name John Havlicek (OSU/Boston Celtics), Bobby Douglas (US Olympics/Iowa State Wrestling HC), Joe & Phil Niekro (NL/AL Baseball), Johnny Blatnik (Philadelphia Phillies), Stan Goletz (Chicago White Sox) and Bill Jobko (OSU/NFL - Rams, Vikings & Falcons) as alumni. BHS/Bridgeport is right next door to Martins Ferry. The two communities border each other along the Ohio River in Belmont County, Ohio. State Route 7 runs through both communities and each school is a member of the Ohio Valley Athletic Conference (OVAC).
