Reynoldsburg is 7-3 but has played a difficult non-OCC schedule. I'll catch them tomorrow night at the Jimmy, Newark's gym. Both teams are undefeated in the OCC Buckeye and both have wins against Pick Central. Newark is led by Coach Jeff Quackenbush's son, Jake, a likely DI first team all state player.

Fisher
McKinney
Bowens

2 of the 3 players above better be significant contributors to the roster in 2026-2027. Boals is going to be looking at 10 new players for next season.

I love the name Quackenbush almost as much as Hype Grand! Now we need to find a basketball player with the last name of McDunkin!

Reynoldsburg had a pretty solid back half of the season and finished 15-6, 13-1 in the OCC Buckeye and ending up tied with Newark who they beat 63-50 to earn the split. Not sure how they award the Conference championship there?

They finish with a really good matchup with 17-4 Licking Heights tonight. Smart tune-up schedule before the playoffs. Their path to districts is incredibly easy with weak Thomas Worthington then almost as unimpressive Jerome or Pick North. That will take them to the sweet 16 where they will likely have a rematch with Newark.

Impressive win over Licking Heights 76-61 and easy work in the first round last night 69-48.

They're actually playing better the last month or so. Some of the reason for a disappointing record (at least compared to last year) is because of a challenging non-league schedule. They defeated Newark late in the regular season for a season split and a share of the league title. Newark plays Gahanna Saturday at the Fairgrounds Coliseum and I plan on sticking around for Reynoldsburg's game v. Pick North. If Newark and Reynoldsburg win they will face each other for the third time Wednesday in a regional semifinal. Maybe Greencat will be in attendance to watch his favorite team/players.

A media panel of central ohio prep sports reporters voted for an all-central district Div I first team and both Bowens (16 ppg) and McKinney (18.4 ppg) were selected.

Reynoldsburg wins over Pick North 71-52 and Newark beats Gahanna 54-37 setting up the state Sweet 16 matchup of conference foes. I am going to try to make it Wednesday.

Newark v Reynoldsburg is what they call in MLB the rubber match as each team won a home game v. the other this season with both finishing 11-1 in the OCC Buckeye.

I was at the old barn Saturday for 4 DI central district championship games. Olentangy (3 seed) and Hilliard Bradley (1) winning the openers before Newark (2) and Reynoldsburg (4) winning the final 2 games.

J. Simmons (Gahanna), J. Fisher (Reynoldsburg) and coach Thornton were in the house. Had short conversations with Simmons and Thornton. More on that later.

Reynoldsburg played a 6-6 senior who I don't recall seeing last year during the team's run to the state title game or in their matchup at Newark in January. But he looks like another athlete added to OUr recruits Bowens and McKinney and sophomore Roddy, who I believe is their best talent. They will throw every thing they have at Newark's Jake Quackenbush, meaning Ty Gilbert and Tybron Brooks will have to step up again. Go Wildcats!

Don’t worry fellas.

Rumor has it that Jordan Fisher, Xavier McKinney and Jordan Bowens are Jalen Rose, Jimmie King, and Chris Webber 2.0.

Ohio basketball is so back.

I hope that was Newark New Jersey, because if it's the Newark that's north of Buckeye Lake, we are about to have a severe talent/experience deficiency.

No need to quote you on that as one has transferred and another backed out of coming to school here. Not sure what the status is on player #3.

Reynoldsburg's Roddy headed across town to Westerville North for his junior season.
