Well, the Rays just acquired Adrian Houser from the White Sox so they'll have to send a pitcher down to make room. Hopefully this isn't a 1 day visit. And scratch what I said about Boyle replacing Littell...it'll be Houser.

Joe finishes the final 3 innings and does fantastic - 3 IP, 2 H, 5 K, 0 BB

Retired 3 former MVPs (2 K's) - Goldschmidt, Bellinger, Stanton.

Excellent news! Thanks for the report.

3 scoreless / walkless outings since returning to Durham. I actually am glad to see them lean into the reliever role for him. As a primarily Sinker/Slider pitcher, the bullpen is probably where he can find long term success in the bigs.

Sent back down to Durham today.

Has made 3 appearances in relief for the Rays. Has a 2.35 ERA and in 7 2/3 IP he has struck out 11 and given up 7 hits. A nice showing for Joe.

2 of those appearances were in his last stint. This time was just one outing, Wednesday against the White Sox. 2 2/3 IP, 2 BB, 2 K, 1 H, 0 R.

I am really surprised he was sent back down especially with the expanded September roster.

Joe had a solid spring training with the Rays, 5 games all 1 inning each, just 1 run despite 6 walks. 3 hits and 9 K's. However, he did not make the club and has been back at AAA Durham.

Not a great start to the season, getting shelled for 4 runs on opening day. Not sure if there was an injury but he went 2 full weeks between his 3rd and 4th appearances. ERA is at 13.50 and has 7 walks in just 3.1 innings.

He is now 25. Definitely seems like he is done as a starter and is just a matter of getting it done in relief enough at Durham to be considered when the Rays need an arm.

Joe was actually called up to the Rays on April 10th and sent back to Durham on April 12th. He did not make an appearance for Tampa.

Started and didn’t make it out of the first against his old club. Gave up 4 runs on 3 hits and an error.

Joe pitched 3 innings in relief vs the Dodgers last night. 1 H, 1 ER, 3 SO, 5 BB. Also threw a WP. Hopefully his lack of command was due to the rust of not pitching in a week.

He also hit 2 batters to go with the 5 walks. Pretty wild to have 7 free passes and escape with just 1 run allowed. Left them loaded in his first inning.

Then his 2nd inning of work was a doosy. First batter = Shohei Ohtani. I would've walked him too. Then he walked Pages, got future HOF Freddie Freeman to fly out, then future HOF Mookie Betts to strike out. Walked 12 year veteran Max Muncy, walked 60 mil per year salary Kyle Tucker (with bases loaded), then struck out Alex Call to escape with just 1 run scored.

I know these things happen all the time, but it hits hard when it is one of our Bobcats just the immense surreal pressure to be thrown into and facing guys you grew up watching.

Credit the White Sox for sending him back out for a 3rd inning after that stress, and Joe showed a lot having a clean inning including getting Ohtani out.

Better outing last night vs the Yankees.

It was mop up duty as he entered with the Chisox down 11-1.

Joe walked the first batter he faced but settled down and pitched respectably.

His control was much better than in his previous outing. He threw 49 pitches and 34 were for strikes. His slider looked very good.

3 IP, 4 H, 1 BB, 0 ER, 4 SO

Rough Saturday outing for Joe.

Entered the game in the 4th inning with the Chisox leading the Tigers 1-0.
Pitched 2 1/3 innings and gave up 3 runs (2 earned) on 5 hits and 2 walks. He struckout 1 Tiger and was the losing pitcher in a 4-1 loss.

Joe came into a tight game today with Chisox trainling the Guardians 2-1. Joe pitched the entire 8th and 9th innings. 2 IP, 1 H, 1 ER, 3 BB, 4 SO. Walks are still a problem. White Sox tied the game in the bottom of the 9th and they are currently 3-3 in the 10th.

I hope he can find his control.

Me too. If not, he would fit in perfectly as part of the Cincinnati Reds pitching staff.
