Mitch is scorching hot right now. Hit safely in 9 of last 10, 3 for 3 last nite, BA up to .346, OBP at .408 and SP at .531.

With Zimmer up in the majors, apparently to stay, and Frazier traded to Yankees last year, Mitch now looks to be one of tribe's half dozen best outfield prospects. Biggest issue would appear to be lack of power/run production, particularly for a right fielder.

Since he was hurt earlier this year and has only played 35 games at LC, I don't know that the tribe will rush to promote him. That said, it certainly appears he could handle the competition at High-A.

Now hitting .376. That's the second highest average in all of minor league baseball (minimum 200 plate appearances).

Mitch was moved up to High A Lynchburg on August 31 and celebrated by going three for four with an RBI...

Boy - I'd love to see the Indians challenge him in next year and send him to Akron right away. He's had no problem hitting A-ball pitchers so far this year.

Can somebody hit a pull up jumper for me?.....

Mitch's fantastic season has come to an end. Batted .563 for Lynchburg in the Carolina League playoffs (which were shortened because of Irma, with Lynchburg crowned co-champ).

Overall, Mitch had a .376/.448/.541 slash line with 20 stolen bases in 21 attempts.

Have not seen anything about what the Tribe might have in store for Mitch during the winter. He only played 50 games because of injury...

Mitch has not garnered much love from the scouting sites that put together organization Top 25 lists. Baseball America's is still to come, but neither John Sickles at Minor League Ball or ESPN's Keith Law have him listed. One little known site, Prospects1500.com, has Mitch ranked 14th among the Tribe's minor leaguers.

2 things have probably contributed to this lack of love. First, Mitch lacks power, and these days power is expected for corner outfielders. Second, a lot of sites, from what I'm told, really don't pay much attention to college players that were low draftees until they reach Class AA. They're expected to excel against the high schoolers they face in the low minors...

I expect Mitch will begin where he left off last season, at High A Lynchburg. It will be interesting to see if he can get thru the year without injury and perhaps develop a modicum of power...

I'd agree with your assessment. One area Mitch can really improve in is defense. Reading fly balls was difficult at times for him while at Ohio. His speed and athleticism allowed him to make up for many misplayed fly-balls.

I played with Mitch while at Ohio and I'll tell you that he does not lack power. He packs a TON of power and plenty of bat speed for such a small frame, he's having trouble replicating that power in games. That is all a result of facing better pitching. With time he will develop more plate discipline and jump on mistakes at a higher rate. A major factor to developing power at the professional level is being able to lay off tough pitches, something he also struggled with at times in college. This season will be a big year for him as well as the organization moving forward.

He will have to stay healthy and remain in the lineup to get his AB's.

MLBpipeline.com ranks Mitch 27th among tribe prospects this spring, with "skills and tools that give him a solid chance to outperform projections."

Inserted into today's spring training game. Defensive replacement. No at bats. Tribe won today. Replaced Chisenhall who had 4 at bats. Thinking he played in the field for the final inning.

After a slow start in the cold weather, Mitch put together a 16 game hitting streak and was batting about .315 on May 6.

A very nice weekend for Mitch. Breaking out of a 3 for 25 slump, Mitch had 5 hits in 13 official trips to the plate, including an HR. BA back up to .288.

A 3 for 6 effort capped a recent 10 game span in which Mitch batted .341 and raised his figure for the season to .294. During that stretch he also stole 5 bases giving him 13 on the year.

2 for 5 last nite continues a hot month for Mitch. Batting .345 in July and .301 overall. Keep in mind also that this is by far the most games Mitch has played in a season since being drafted. Keep it going for 5 more weeks, Mitch!

Good to see him getting this recognition. I wonder if he'll move up to a higher minor league next year. What do you think his next stop might be?

At this point I doubt they move him and figure as long as he stays healthy, has a solid August and a solid spring training, he will likely start next season at AA Akron. AA is often a make or break stop as a lot of the top talent is there and the level of competition should get tougher for Mitch.
