Unless they moved Wilson Hall from West to College Green I'd say that photo is Cutler.

A frank assessment of the enrollment decline from Cutler Hall:

Quote:
Boeninger also said that OU in recent years lost many of its potential incoming students to both The University of Cincinnati and The Ohio State University, but she indicated that OU still has the chance in the future to rise again to the prominence it once held.

“We know that we’ve been the winner in the past. We know there is definitely some element of popularity that is cyclical in higher education in Ohio and we’ll be that popular place again,” she said.

Wilson is to the immediate left of Cutler.

For the record, there are two. One residence hall on West green, haunted, the other on college as you mention.

So, I'm not saying there aren't some hard truths that our beloved alma mater has to face during these trying times and extremely tight and further shrinking budgets. But at some point, don't we just have to admit vedder is just a complete PR nightmare? going around the country and badmouthing his employer wherever he goes like an a-hole with an agenda?

Vedder's agenda has always been to badmouth and undermine the entire concept of public higher education, and he's absolutely willing to throw Ohio under the bus as a means to his ends. That doesn't negate a lot of what he's saying about administrative bloat or athletic subsidies, but his agenda goes far beyond that. And he's being a rank hypocrite when he talks about decreased state funding since, if he had his way, there would be no state or federal funding for universities at all.

Regarding the quote above about Ohio getting back to its "prominence," that seems to be a familiar theme from administrators when talking about admissions as well as Ohio's place in the state's overall higher ed food chain. McDavis would frequently talk about this past period of glory to which he was returning Ohio. I just want to know when that was? The stark reality is that we've been chasing OSU since 1870. We might have been a peer of Miami's before the 60s, but their sweetheart deal to be the only selective admission school in Ohio after that fundamentally separated the two schools at that point.

And I'm saying this because I think this mythical, sepia-tinted past that the administration points to is a crutch. It allows them to think this is all easier than it really is. That--simply because we were first--our natural place is to eventually settle at the top of the pecking order. I'd much rather they have a far more clear-eyed, hardened view of the history of the state's higher education system and Ohio's role in it. Be hungry and be aware of the hurdles necessary to move Ohio forward rather than think it's some historical norm that Ohio will easily reclaim because the latter thinking leads to complacency.

The university is going through its toughest time since the 1970's no doubt about that.

Will the state of Ohio step in and do something about it like they did in the 70's giving OU the Osteopathic School? How about give up Cleveland State to OU and its college of law? That would be a big show of solidarity for Ohio's First and Finest.

It seems to me that by the late 1990s and early 2000s, when I was college shopping, OU’s reputation had peaked pretty well to the point that living up in Northwest Ohio iit was considered a really solid choice — the journalism school especially. Out of a class of 140 at my school, five or six of us went to OU. That’s not bad, being 4-5 hours away.

At this point, I don’t see that many kids in Western Ohio considering OU.

I do think the notions we had of a leafy green residential campus far from a city is not what kids want today.

Although I suspect that remoteness could work to our advantage in this new reality. Sell the campus as a bubble from the city. Something they might want to investigate going forward.

We could start by making the campus look nice again.

The maker of Purell has ties to both the University of Akron and Kent State. I personally make sure to never buy Purell to avoid indirectly supporting our MAC rivals.

I've seen crazier things happen.
