Guess not. The deal is they limit the club to 64 members so Nebraska was part of it at one time but was passed by in research by universities (Buffalo) who joined the club. R1 has this property as well where you can be downgraded from it. Only 146 universities are R1 but it allows for more emergent research universities. However Fiami with its limited STEM offering has no potential of cracking it and Akron/Toledo are hemorraging students to places like BG which doesn't have an engineering school. They have a collective problem.
