Clayton has been a mixed bag on offense, hit and miss games, and it has not been developing, essentially just shooting over the top. But it's his defensive skills and energy level that are most questionable. It seems the player shooting against him rarely misses.

I like AJ and what he can provide on the offensive end as a stretch guy off the bench, but my issue with him is shot selection. He's been given the green light but that doesn't mean (to me at least) he needs to look to chuck the ball from deep every time he touches it. There are a few I've seen this season where I wonder if he even saw the rim before pulling up for the jumper. I need to see a more well rounded game from him.

He's had 8 games this season where's hoisted 5 or more threes. Of those, he's 18/56 or roughly 32%. That's way too many shots for that little of consistency.

I Boals believes Clayton is the next BVP, which is why he is encouraged to shoot threes and also play down low.

I agree that his motor doesn't always seem to be engaged. Speaking ow which, we were treated to the "passive" BRod last night.

This statement could be made about at least half the players on our team.

Both points represent almost anyone on OUr roster.

1. Too much inconsistency from game to game with the exception of DWIII, who brings it every night. Which leads to most games including a starting lineup where 1, 2 and sometimes 3 players providing little in the way of points.

2. It's become too common to see ballhandlers beat OUr defender off the dribble for easy looks or finding an open shot for a teammate.

The problem is Clayton has never played down low. He's not even close to BVP's skills in the paint and posting defenders up. I honestly don't remember a 2 point basket he made that wasn't a tip-in off a miss.

I’ve been preaching (or complaining, however you want to look at it) about this over the last few weeks in different threads. On the season, Clayton has attempted 153 shots. 94 of those are 3’s. 61% of his shots should not be from behind the arc given his low accuracy level and I just don’t get it. He has zero hesitation, he doesn’t even pump fake it’s catch and release.

I’m guessing there’s correlation between it and his benching, but he hasn’t changed his offensive game. The kid is 6’8 225 as 19 year old. I feel like he could be a beast in the paint if he would just you know….try it?

Nothing on AJ Brown? Didn't listen to Russ during game or post. Do we have any definitive word on what the injury is and how long he will be out? It looks like he took part in the shoot-around the morning of the EMU game. Since there isn't a dedicated beat reporter who follows this team I guess we might not know anything until Fall 2023.

"Undisclosed injury" They also mentioned that he did take part in the shoot-around, but was not going to play. Russ said he was to be evaluated once the team returned to Athens. Could be something from the Akron game they are waiting to look at once back in Athens (the team had been on the road since).

Better medical facilities in Athens.

He took an elbow to the head on Saturday. Perhaps a concussion?

So did the boys all take in the Cavs game to see their Bobcat teammate go for the Clips?

Thanks for posting pic. If one didn't know these guys, what's the chance a person could pick out the NBA player?
