It's another insider story, so not everyone will be able to read it, but he rankes the MAC eighth of the 11 conferences.
1. SEC
2. Big 12
3. Pac 12
4. Big Ten
5. Big East
6. ACC
7. WAC
8. MAC
9. Mountain West
10. Sun Belt
11. Conference USA (6-34 nonconference against FBS foes and 1-22 against BCS teams!)

He says the MAC is the strongest its been since the glory days of the late 90s and early 2000s. The MAC is 21-23 non-conference (but 10 of those wins are vs. FCS) and has more nonconference wins against BCS foes than the SEC and Big 12 (although in quite a few more chances).

Kind of surprised he has the WAC so high. I know San Jose State and Louisiana Tech are having great seasons, but the UTSA 5-0 record is a mirage. Utah State is good but not great.

I always thought our glory days were the late 60's early 70's.  I get the Marshall run, Miami and Big Ben, Jim Grobe teams, et al.  But Miami, Ohio, and Toledo(might be missing one...Kent?) and our Tangerine Bowl tie in was solid as well.

I feel like having LA Tech ranked is helping the WAC a lot. And I personally think Utah State is pretty solid this year, I'd say even better than last. They held thir own against BYU and beat Utah, that's pretty good on any resume.

You make a fair argument. And with each passing week, the MAC's victories over the Big Mediocre (Ten) look less and less significant.
