16-3 and 7-1. Huge. Our D is disrupting everyone (except Toledo 🤷‍♂️). Three different guys can score 20 any night and hit huge shots any night. Great job against Buffalo bigs last night. Miles Brown played his best game and close to home too. Fought off Buffalo runs and closed it out handily. Way fun.

Roderick gives max effort and attitude on both ends of the floor. His 3 is off. Boals is mixing in more minutes for others due to that. At 16-3 and 7-1 I’d say Boals lineup and rotation is tough to question.

3 straight home games should be fun. (But worried we’ll be exhausted @ Toledo due to schedule.)

GO OHIO

Can somebody hit a pull up jumper for me?.....

I'm still a little gobsmacked after that game. It's amazing to see what this team can do when it focuses for 40 minutes. We're not a great shooting team - even in this dominant win we shot 44% - but defense and rebounding like that makes shooting matter a lot less. I hope they can maintain this intensity but it's a tall order.

Hallelujah RS Bobcat! There is something special going on with Bobcat Hoops. It starts with Boals. Over the last 30 years I have seen us lose so many of the games we ended up winning over the last 2 years.

It is crazy we can plug in guys, when needed, and win games. BRod will get "it" back. I am rooting for that dude 100. He does other things off the ball and has started to play with what is working - defense, drive and dish, make free throws, etc.

We are once again starring down the grim reaper if we do not win the MAC Tourney. This team deserves better but the pressure will be on to repeat knowing the end result if they do not. It is complete BS!

I have not been this encouraged by the state of Bobcat Hoop since the transition into the Gary Trent years. I do not want to even read the Boals rumors. We know they will come up. Hell...we are 16-3 with this recruiting class coming in!? Replaced an NBA Player, lost a key 6th man and our best low post dude is redshirted (I hope). And yes - the Student Section is back! The Convo is back!

CRAZY.EXCITING.THE END.

One of the best posts of the year.

Boals has brought this program back not only on the court, but with fan enthusiasm and engagement. And it's so hard to not think about next year with the pieces returning and adding. For the next two months, I will put that out of my mind. This team right now can carve out its own piece of history moving forward.

I am surprised at how little talk there is in this thread about how huge that was. Think about this from the perspective of last summer. We thought 7 or 8 months ago that we would have all 5 starters back plus Sears, Brown, and Towns along with the additions of Carter and Clayton. We also expected @Buffalo to be the most difficult game on the MAC schedule. We were down FOUR starters from last year's team last night and won the game by 21 points. You can't really overstate that as to the where the program could be going if we can keep Boals for a few more years.

We straight up kicked their ass. Buffalo is not the same Buffalo without Oats and did anyone noticed Boals keeping the starters in the whole 2nd half until the final horn? Had to feel like that was sending some type of message. Really was worried about risking injury there, but I also wanna know what that was about.

Also, just me or is Jeenathan Williams...I don't wanna say overrated, but he has not developed into what a lot people around this league thought he might?

I honestly don't think he was sending Buffalo any kind of message. I think we wanted to see his starters close out a game. They absorbed a couple mini runs and kept pushing the lead back to 20+. That was important for the growth of a team that had practically just let NIU back into a blowout on the home floor in the prior game.

Williams looked like the real deal last Friday night against Kent, putting up a line of 25/11/6. But that was against Kent's D which is not very good. Our defense last night wasn't going to let anyone anywhere near that kind of production.

Every time Buffalo started one of the mini-runs, someone stepped up and made a counter bucket and shut it down. That was not very common in our past. No rag on any coach or player. It is not easy to find a Trent, Cooper, Freeman, Preston, Sears, BVP, Carter, etc.

Sears..man is he for real.

I think Jeenathan Williams is having a very good season. He's first team all MAC for sure.

The player that mystified me last night was Mballa.

I'd say that Buffalo still is capable of making a run in the MAC tournament. I'd rather not face them again.

Teams have off nights. We had one vs Toledo, although that wasn't as bad as Buffalo last night.

Another elite defensive performance. So much hustle and energy. They really do a good job coming off their man for brief spurts to disrupt the ball handler and getting back without harm. All the credit for their poor shooting night to the defense!

Tremendous night for Miles, I could get used to that 3 for 4 night from 3 for him. Sears played all 40 in the blowout, kind of surprising considering Schmock logged 29 minutes.

As for the Towns/Roderick discussion...I don't see why that can't be discussed after a win? I didn't take it as a complaint, it is fan discussion...kind of the whole point of being here. I would further complicate it by asking why not consider Clayton? The focal point of Roderick's struggles is missing his outside shot. Clayton fills that void a lot more than Towns, while still preserving good rebounding and defense. You lose ball handling with Towns/Clayton over Roderick, but that doesn't sting much when you have Sears/Brown/Schmock seeing the court so much. In the end I think we'll see all 3 a good bit the rest the way, doesn't matter much who starts.

Toledo & Ohio are really distancing themselves from the rest of the conference. Reminiscent of 2013 when Akron & Ohio were light years ahead of everyone in the standings. Looking forward to 6 games in the next 12 days. Given the nature of the opponents, we could be flying high at 10-1 this time next week only to get knocked back the following week.

All of this ^^^ +1 excellent analysis

At times the high hedge is so high I'm surprised teams haven't been better at getting the ball to the hedger's man before he can recover. But I'm not complaining as in most cases our opponents haven't taken advantage. In my opinion we have been playing elite, typically late-season, type defense since Cleveland State, and even Belmont although they did end up scoring 80.

Nothing wrong with discussing personnel issues on a thread after a win. What was annoying me was Ohio had just completed a solid win on the road and there wasn't much positive buzz....mostly debate about Roderick.
