HARDLY.

The talent they have left is really pretty good. An all league G/F, some big beef up front and some skilled players left over. Less minutes to worry about and the pace those guys play. They will be fine.

It is rare I disagree with Borna on much.......but on paper, am ready to bury that group and say this is the squad that drives Charlie to retire, drink, or both.

Think Buffalo underrated, MU overrated in most of the pre-season dice rolls.

Agreed about both.  But that being said I've seen some of Charlie's teams that looked like they were in much worse shape end up doing quite well.

So what you're saying is their style of play will be even more insufferable this season, as Charlie looks to duct tape together 17 wins?

Seriously, you're counting Charlie out before  the first jump ball. Doubt them at your own peril. I've seen that guy take teams that didn't look pretty on paper, but ended up doing "pretty" well on the scoreboard. He'll figure out a way to adapt to the personnel he has. Having Mavauga gives him a pretty good leg up to build around.

I agree with BobcatSports, Charlie will come up with a good team regardless of the problems.  He could probably take a dozen random BobcatAttacker's and make us into a credible team.  He's a coach's coach.  How he ever ended up going to school at Miami and then coaching there is beyond my ability to understand.  He's far to good for that Hell Hole.

I'm not counting Charlie out, but he has to have a team in order to work his magic. Rollins and Edwards should be back before too long, but is this team going to hold up over the season? Can Mavunga go more than a month or two without getting hurt? There are a lot of questions with this team and the East is going to be merciless this year.

Fiami squeeked out a 64-61 win over Cal (PA) in their exhibition.   They were missing most of their guards (Orlando Williams, Quinton Rollins and Allen Roberts all out) however.  Their big guys were there though and they were badly outrebounded.  They don't open the real season until tomorrow night against Dayton.

It's looking more and more like their big recruit from three years ago, Drew McGhee is a bust.  He played a total of 11 minutes against Cal (PA) with 1 pt and 1 reb.

JSF poses a  legit question.  If we had the kind of preseason concerns they have had, we'd be in full panic mode.  This season could be one of Charlie's biggest challenges.

It would be interesting to see how Charlie would be treated if he were our coach.

I guess Dayton didn't get your crack assessment of Miami's demise, huh, JSF?

UD has a lot of young guys playing key roles this season. They could have some problems away from UD Arena to start the season.

I watched most of the game with the OU game on, as well. Mavunga was too big and strong for anyone UD had on the floor.

Miami impressive win over Dayton. Edwards/Mavunga inside is gonna be a handfull for the MAC. Miami backcourt not bad. Charlie's teams last few years have shown a bit more offensive fire power.

Feels like much of last season all over again.

agree with those who say never underrate charlie and his kids.  remember, bill edwards was one of the top players in OH when he came out of h.s. and played a reasonable number of minutes at penn state as a freshman before transferring.  and feel free to ask stevie taylor about freshman guard brian sullivan from upper arlington, whom he knows well.  i'm looking forward to their battles over the next 4 yrs.  there is talent here, even without williams.  if they get healthy and stay healthy, it'll be typical miami...

Miami was never in the game at Troy today. After two strong games to start the season, they've lost three in a row with an unimpressive win at D-II Saginaw Valley.

Word is Bill Edwards is going to start appearing on milk cartons.

He didn't even play last night. Anybody know why?

Edit: Oops, ESPN said zero minutes under his game log but he actually played 4.  Didn't appear to start.

Was just reading on the Fiami board that there might be problems behind the scenes with Edwards.  Charlie gave some quotes that he might not be happy with Edwards work ethic and Edwards said in an interview with his hometown paper that  he might have been hasty with his decision to tranfer to Fiami.  He said that if he had to do it all over again he would consider Wright State more strongly.  Might add up to nothing but it's definitely an interesting development particularly with Edwards declining minutes and production.

Bill and his brother Vince were at the UD/Alabama game last night. I think Vince is getting a lot of recruiting interest. Bill's dad played for Wright State.

Miami is 2-5 now after the Wright State loss, and their record doesn't look to improve much before MAC play begins.

Of their next 5 games they will probably lose 4 of them (William & Mary the only likely win)
