College basketball has an opportunity to actually put into practice that whole "student athlete" thing they've been selling us for decades. The NIL and money floating around college basketball removes (or at least mitigates) the financial consideration of leaving, and incentivizes players to stay longer. I think they'd be silly not to try and incentivize players to stay longer by granting additional eligibility in exchange for academic progress. I've been jokinng that 19th Century "ringers" will be in vogue again soon, but my joke may not be that far off from reality at some point.
