Wow, blow a 20-0 lead and it’s the fault of the offense??? The IQ of football on this bored is mind boggling, we have fans that complain about the offense when they score 35 points and lose. 🤦🏼♂️
Wanna make a wager Billy that I know more about Ohio Football and Football games than you ? and I've even had 3 strokes with short term memory, put up or shut up ! But what about scoring 7 points in a half against Miami, Northern Illinois and Kent St. this year ? Ohio lost 2 out of the 3 but luckily beat Kent by 1 27 to 26, Ohio might of averaged 41 points a game for the season, but they didn't score 41 against Miami or NIU if they had Ohio would of won, so the 41 points a game is bogus, As I have said time and time again, our OC Tim Albin can NOT put together 4 quarters of play calling together for a season, You can go back to all 14 years since he's been here and see for yourself, I gave you examples of 3 games this year. but like I said before he did in our Bowl game this year so Kudo's to him !
I’d hate to take your disability check
For starters, I'm not on disability, I'm just an ole Country Hick that knows how to make money and retire at 56, that's been following Ohio Bobcat sports a long long time, not many here can say they watched an Ohio Basketball game as a kid in Grover Center, well I can, and as the ole saying goes " Put up or Shut the Hell Up"
So based on being old, you and OCF are the encyclopedia of all things Ohio because you saw games at Grover. Got it! I apologize, I never realized buying tickets to the game made one an expert.
What makes you an expert ? because you post on a message board and go to a couple games ? I been to lots and lots of games and events at Ohio, also on the road in my lifetime, I've spent time with a lot of the players off the court that played for Ohio, both Basketball, Football also Woman's Basketball and Volleyball along with their families, still friends with a lot of them today, Even tho I am NOT an Ohio Grad, I know the Sports HISTORY here at Ohio, I've lived it and watched it happen. When you live only a few miles away from campus, you can attend a lot of games both Men's & Woman's and I did that, people on here that know me and the players that I have met over the years can vouch for that. But you did impress me BillytheCat by spelling Encyclopedia but then again.... you probably Googled it.
My knowledge comes from being involved with the game on a daily basis for over 40 years as a player, coach, or in various other capacities. Coached the sport for over 20 years, and have worked on the field for High School, DIII, DII and DI for over 10 years. And it’s obvious you failed to understand my very first post, maybe that’s an age thing? The post was football IQ, not how many games you’ve watched at Peden, how many Volleyball and basketball families you know.

First off Billy, You don't have to coach, play or work the field to know Football, This post is about Tim Albin and if you think its ok to score 7 points in the 1st half of 3 games and losing 2, with winning the other by 1, now pay attention now, then last year kicking 8 FG's in the Redzone during our first 3 games, Zervous was 2nd in the nation for FG's made after 3 games, This has been the pattern of Tim Albin's 14 year career at Ohio, I've followed it closely, but if you think Albin is doing a great job then you must of been eating popcorn and drinking soda at all of your ballgames instead of paying attention.
Oh and Bill there are a lot of guys on this message board that never played football and are pretty damn knowledgeable about the game, so put that in ya box of popcorn while ya eat it !!!

When a team scores 30+ points and losses and you want to blame the offense and the Offensive coordinator, yes you have a lot to learn about the game of football. Regardless of how many points you score in a half. 30 points, 21 points, should be enough to win games.

For someone that says they know Football, you sure are dumb, we didn't score 30 plus points in our MAC losses dummy, if we had we would of won. so stop saying the 30 point BS, The whole thing in a nut shell, is Albin can't call 4 quarters of football for a season, he hasn't for 14 years know, that's why Ohio is always on the outside looking in, I know it Bobcat Nation knows it but you just don't get it do ya Mr. Football.

Ohio made the MAC Championship that year, 2016 LC and guess what ? Ohio had 7 points at Halftime, Down 23 to 7 to Western Michigan, THEN in TRUE Tim Albin style, Ohio out scores Western Michigan 16 to 6 in the 2nd half and Ohio loses 29 to 23 in the MAC Championship game. Just another example, you guys are making this way to easy for me.

Hey, I played at Grover, too. Mostly pickup games at noon or on Saturday. One, however, was a game played at halftime of a real Bobcat game, between the WOUB Golden Voices (my team) and The Post Toasties. My contribution was one shot clinked off the rim. At least it wasn't an air ball! ;-)

In Grover, a buddy (sadly, now deceased) and I would arrive early to catch the freshman game and get front row seats. Also had a freshman phys ed course in Grover.
Interestingly, if I am recalling correctly, Grover served as the basketball venue for only 10 years before The Convo debuted.

Play calling is but one of many possible explanations for a given outcome. For some reason, these days fans seem to place out-sized emphasis on it.

Maybe so. But when you have the ball on the one-inch line in the final minute of a game and you call the exact same play twice in a row .... there's something to it.
Albin has improved the last few years ... that's obvious. But there are still some serious flaws to his strategy. Continuing to run the ball vs. NIU when it was obviously not working would be another spot this year where his play-calling cost Ohio.
Nobody's perfect ... but Ohio has had a collection of head-scratchers in terms of play-calling in the last few years.
Now I agree, sometimes it comes down to execution ... so players are at fault at times. But a coaches job is to put their players in the best possible position. We've seen both coordinators struggle with that at times in Albin and Burrow.

I think best thing we can take from this is that other people see things differently than we do. We could discuss this topic for 50 pages, and be no closer to a consensus.

Ohio played its games at Grover before moving across Richland Ave. in 1968 to the Convo. Where did the Bobcats play its home games before Grover?

Correct. And, it's was then called, Men's Gym.
Anyone know where Women's Gym was?

Correct, old timer. It was right next to Carnegie Hall (now Scripps). In building the library they tore down both Women's Gym and old Boyd Hall. And, then managed to undermine the foundation of old Tupper Hall (one of the oldest buildings on campus) and had to tear it down too. The little park in front of the library is where Tupper Hall used to stand. The destruction of Tupper Hall still irks me today. It was supposedly accidental, but I'm a skeptic on that one.
