Quite an accomplishment for any coach. Amazing to think it happened at OHIO. Thanks Coach Solich.

In 1953 Ohio defeated Western Michigan 67-12 so tonight was not the school record. Most in 66 years though.

Russ mentioned the most points scored in a game by an Ohio team during the broadcast. I’m fairly certain he said it was an 89 point victory over Wittenberg in 1916.

Tonight was the most scored since a 63-15 win over Northern Illinois in 1976.

Congrats to Coach Solich for posting the most wins of all time in the MAC. Not only did he lead the Bobcats to share this record with him, but he has done it with class. All this jabber about most points scored in a game...Frank wanted nothing to do with a scoring record. He has way too much class to try to run up the score on BG. He took his senior quarterback out of the game at the end of the 3rd quarter to avoid further embarrasment to his fellow head coach. Not only did he replace Nathan, he also let the air out of the ball for the entire 4th quarter and got playing time for as many underclassmen as he could find.
Anyone who follows college athletics can easily see why Frank Solich is held in such high regard by all coaches everywhere. We have been blessed to have him at the helm of Bobcat Football.

I think it's telling that at least two MAC coaches -- Martin at Fiami and Loefler at BG -- want their programs to emulate ours. A far cry from 15 years ago.
We will get by.
We will get by.
We will get by.
We will survive.

Congratulations, we looked great last night and you coach Solich broke the MAC record for wins with class.
Nobody despises to lose more than I do. That's got me into trouble over the years, but it also made a man of mediocre ability into a pretty good coach. Woody Hayes

Exactly. For those of us who have followed Ohio football well before Frank came here, it’s still hard to comprehend at times the level Ohio has risen to - and stayed - since his arrival. I still remember when 0-10 Akron and 0-10 Ohio played in the “Toilet Bowl,” a game Ohio ended up losing to finish winless on the season like it was yesterday. And now here we are. It’s why I don’t lose any sleep over not winning a MACC.

Coach Solich is close to another MAC record as well that he will probably surpass next season.

I was enrolled when this game was played. During that season I started doing computer rankings on FBS Football. One ranking is a strength of record calculation and the other is a predictive algorithm to predict scores of future or hypothetical match-ups. I did this mostly due to the Penn St./Nebraska poll controversy rather than to prove to myself just how bad OUr team was. Penn St. comes out barely ahead in both of my metrics even though the finished just behind in both polls.

At any rate, I eventually ran the metrics on all FBS seasons since its origin in 1978. Ironically, the team at my school when I started the computation is the team that it thinks has the all-time worst strength of record. The reason that I bring this up is maybe someone will find it somewhat interesting that will no longer be the case if we beat Akron next week. That is unless the MAC has a nice bowl season which would raise the system's opinion of Akron's schedule.

Also closing in on two Ohio records most wins and most losses - 10 from each. Wonder which he will get to first? Been remarkably consistent.

Ohio football coach Frank Solich became the all-time MAC wins leader earlier this week.

The 75-year-old former Nebraska player and coach took the long road to success.

That article is why I hope he's back for a few more years. Plus, it would be bad to dump him after he broke the MAC record for wins.

This university is not dumping Frank. He will leave on his own terms. This institution and football program are very fortunate Coach Solich arrived 15 seasons ago.

With a new AD you never know. Further, I didn't say he was being dumped. I merely implied it could happen.
