I kind of like this location for a new bowl game. I only wish it was in January and not December, as it would be easier for me to attend if the Bobcats would get the invite.

I do believe that this is a smart move for the MAC. Look at international locations for bowl games that feature your teams. Puerto Rico is a good choice. Though it would come at a cost, putting a bowl game in Japan would be a smart move too.

When did a US territory become international? And a Japanese game could be called the Kevin Lightner Invitational - Good Will Bowl. Guy is still coaching over there and having lots of success.

Yep, it's the only real "Commonwealth" in the United States. Sorry -- Kentucky, Virginia, etc. You are states and the "commonwealth" designation is just a courtesy thing, has no actual legal meaning. All 50 states are states!

[Puerto Rico is officially designated as a Commonwealth of the United States, which means it is an unincorporated territory that has its own local government but remains under U.S. sovereignty. This status allows Puerto Rico to elect its own local officials while still being subject to U.S. federal laws.]

Puerto Rico is technically an international location. Yes, it's a U.S. Commonwealth. If you look at other events like the Olympics and the World Baseball Classic, Puerto Rico is treated like a separate entity.

Think Kid Rock is reserved for the Miami donors.

I think Jose Feliciano should do the National Anthem.

If I don’t need a passport, I personally do not consider it international, especially when Puerto Ricans are U.S. citizens, and have free access to the U.S.

Bottom line: definitely a location that is not a traditional bowl site. Personally think it's solid, easier to get to without customs and what-not, especially for players who don't have to do the Visa BS.
