Uh......what?

Three observations from this video.

1. It was nice that they got Tom McCabe for the telescope scene.

2. The pirate's favorite announcer is probably Kevin Harrrrlan.

3. Does Athens have a Long John Silvers?

Yeah why not just more highlights of MAC teams against the P5 and/or winning bowl games?

Are MAC states known for Pirates or something ?

Actual excerpt of Mike Leach's autobiography:

There are a lot of misconceptions about pirates. Pirates varied from the soldier/sailor type hired by the Queen Elizabeth I of England to help wage war against Spain, to ruthless outlaws with no direction but their own. Some pirates were actually pretty organized businessmen. Bartholomew Roberts, for example, didn’t drink. He had a whole fleet of ships. He was a really efficient planner and organizer. Another pirate, Henry Morgan, eventually became the Governor of Jamaica. At some points in time it was illegal to be a pirate, but at other points it wasn’t. Sir Francis Drake was paid by the Elizabeth I to plunder and pillage the Spanish and bring as many riches back to England as his fleet could carry. If you were an Englishman during the sixteenth century, you pretty much had a green light to do anything you wanted to the Spanish.

I told the team how pirates had a workman’s comp deal, where if you lost your leg, you got a certain amount of additional treasure. Then, I told the team how similar football teams are to pirate crews, guys of all kinds of ethnicities coming from all corners of society, serving a gamut of roles onboard. I explained how the pirates viewed their swords the same way football players should view their bodies.

“They took great pride in their swords, sharpening them just like players do their bodies by lifting the weights and doing all of the drills we do,” I said.

The players said nothing.

I swung this long sword through the air in front of them.

That's awesome. Actually a lot less whacky than I expected

The part about making players with concussions walk the plank must have been omitted from his book.

So Nebraska plays NIU last year (and lost) and Akron this year, huh? In all these years with Solich, no game with Nebraska?

Nebraska won't risk the all-too-likely scenario that they fired the best coach they've had in many years, he takes a job at a lowly MAC school in the middle of nowhere with a program in shambles, rebuilds it into a P-5 killer, and unceremoniously beats the living crap out of them. Just sayin...

Two CMU defenders were ejected for targeting in a three-play stretch vs UK in the 3rd Q.

And Central keeps the loser's belt.

Akron and Neb may have to play tomorrow. They've been delayed for more than two hours because of weather, and the worst is just now moving into the Lincoln area.

Akron-Neb is cancelled because of the weather.

The first weekend of the season, the MAC goes 5-6.
5-0 vs 1AA teams
0-1 vs G5 schools
0-5 vs "P5" schools

No sarcasm intended when I say that the cancelation might have benefited Akron.

Well, that whole "Fly the Flag" thing is going great! MAC > FCS!!
