Hi, I'm Pete, the guy that commissioned a custom burgee and gifted it to your group.

Nice job having it stolen at a football game last season.

Your group has pretty much sucked ass for a while, and a verifiable theif in your midsts is just icing on the cake. How's it feel to know you're the reason you can't have nice things?

Effing pathetic.

When was the last post by an Ozone member - 8 months? I think the friggin "Kron Rowdies" have passed this 6th man by as far as "best in the MAC".....embarrassing and pathetic indeed.

It's dead. I commented at the last game in the Convo - They should just call it the "Phone Zone".....

What is marketing, admins, coaches, and players doing to help drive interest/engagement?

I get the impression, which could be completely wrong, that the AD's office doesn't really care about the Ozone anymore. I don't see any effort to promote the group. Perhaps, it's going on beneath the surface, but somehow it seems as though they decided to junk the whole operation. Perhaps, they want to replace it with Crazy Cats 2.0 next fall. I don't know.

If you want evidence that the O'zone is dead, you should have seen the winning-team-losing-team for the Akron game. I've never seen anything so lame. The geriatric crew in my aisle could have done a better, louder, job.

I'm starting to think they see it as the next extension of "Gold" or "Platinum" seats - Big bucks in exchange for no home court advantage since the seats can likely be sold but then also be empty most games of the year.....

Hadn't thought about that possibility. Maybe QDEL will buy half the section and Rocky Boots the other half and give tickets to their employees. That's thinking outside of the box, for sure. In fact, I'm not sure in this case there even is a box.

The answer is nothing. And has been nothing. Nobody gives a rats ass about the O Zone. Drove me nuts my entire time in there, and now it's just sad. Those of you who knew me know how much I did to try and make the O Zone keep being something special. It ended up just being me doing pretty much everything (making the dirt sheets, showing up to games hours early to lay out all the papers, getting the flags and signs together) and no one bothering to join in on any efforts. I remember my first couple weeks on campus, me and my buddy Ryan hand-making "OU Oh Yeah" signs to make the stadium do the call-and-answer for the first time.

No one else seemed to want to share the passion, or try and move the group forward, despite me offering many people many opportunities to get involved in any capacity.

I may be a little bitter about it. It was something I loved to do. It seemed like I was the only one who cared a lot of the times.

Let me follow up on this a bit too. There were some people who were a big help in trying to make the O Zone grow. First and foremost, Drake over in marketing was almost always receptive to ideas that we had, even some off the wall stuff like exploring the possibility of adding drums or smoke bombs at football games.

Outside of him and that office, no help.

Who else were you hoping would help? Because when I was around, we had help from a marketing guy, too.

You did a heck of a job too.

Hopefully Ohio has another RPK/BG&W/Shab/Dragon/Anorris/etc before too long to energize the student section once again. But I remember people complained about those student sections too. It's all relative I guess. Ah well.

But I don't think I'll hear OCF whining about winning team/losing team today.. It was pretty darn good.

Yes, thanks to ROTC and the 110 it was a great wining-team-losing-team.

They need to put the cheerleaders in the Ozone! Get more involved! I remember cheerleaders surfing in Ozone! Take the table and chairs out! More room to cheer.

We have Cheerleaders? I see some that look like cheerleaders doing gymnastics stunts every now and then on the court during game breaks......

Can't go out on the court during promotions...as soon as the promotions are over, I usually see them run out and throw up some formation. Not sure what else you want from them?

They always have signs going and are cheering, but are usually drowned out by the band during timeouts. Through the game, they usually are cheering. I sit right behind them every single game (men's and women's) so they are cheering.

Pretty sad when UB laps the O-Zone 20-times over with their student section.

See what back-to-back NCAA Tourney appearances do for you....

I felt embarrassed telling my wife, who went to IU, about the OZone, how much fun we had in it while I was in college, the participation level, the winning team-losing teams, the trips to the Q and then having her look at what it's become a couple years ago and start laughing.

It's time to give those seats to people who will pay for them. The students clearly aren't appreciating being courtside. Have'em look at their phones in the 200 sections and start making some more money. Or give them to young school kids. Or ship in a bus load of Brazilians and people in panda outfits for every game.

I don't know.

RIP OZONE. I tried to give you the benefit of the doubt, but last night was a Friday night home game and still nothing. What’s sad is that I’m not even sure if college kids know this website exists. There is no leader in the ozone this year.. it’s just pathetic.

From the stands I heard "is it called the best sixth man because there are only six men over in the OZone?"

The whole "best sixth man in the MAC" thing needs to be retired. Student crowds this year have been atrocious - more band members than students.

The O Zone is dead.

Sorry gang.

I know it was never the most exciting thing under my watch, and the excitement started to wane, and it got tougher to bring out other students.

The two guys who are the closest things to what I would call leaders text me on Friday night and both said the same thing:

"RIP O Zone"

My freshman, sophomore, and a bulk of my Junior year the O Zone still seemed to pop and have fun. I wish I could tell you what happened. It's just not "in vogue" for students to come out. Universities all over the country are experiencing sharp declines in student attendance. Even teams that are perennial top 5 teams and have fantastic gameday atmospheres are having troubles.

I will add that there was something that could have been done to at least mitigate the decline, but it was never accomplished. Makes me pissed.
