Ethan Newton was a JUCO and he was a great addition last year.  But for the life of me, WHAT IS HAPPENING AT SHORTSTOP?  A train wreck.  Move Black back there and get one of your bats back in the line up at second or third.

WOW,, we may have a national record set today!!!   The tallest lead-off hitter in the history of baseball,,,, Wells, he's something like 6'8" tall.  That doesn't fit the typical lead-off hitter description, nice big strike zone for opposing pitcher to zoom in on.  Also gotta wonder about the speed he brings to the plate, not to mention he's batting .250.  Seems to be a new philosophy at the DH spot too,,, good place to put a guy thats 0 for 12 on the season.  He goes 2 for 2 with 3 RBIs in first 2 at bats,,,, who said Carbone doesn't know what he's doing???

Crafty move to always "stay young."

The shortstop who fell in your lap as a walk-on gets moved to 2nd base for a Junior College player who has a fielding percentage worse than Nick Kellogg's free throw percentage, and hits 37 points below his weight.

Emody has as many hits as I do this season. Of course he only has 2 at-bats.

Ward is gone.

I mean I get it.  To the person that just casually follows the team, you can always give the excuse, well they are young this year, in a year or two though they'll be tough.

However , us that actually pay attention know that very rarely does anyone get to play anymore at one position very long before being moved, benched, or transfers.

Everyone assumed Emody would be starting this year after his terrific freshmen season, instead he got bench.  Ward who started all the games last year left for some reason.  Your SS moves to 2nd base for a juco who hasn't proven anything before he came or since.  This way your entire infield is basically new (Carbone translation - young).

Nice move.

A few similar moves in the past that I can remember

Keen started all those games (albeit he was terrible and shouldn't, but not sure why it took 3 years to figure it out), then gets benched and quits his senior year.  Besl was flip flopping between 2nd and SS every inning.  Krauss was bouncing between 1B and outfield.

Let's see if you can follow what happened in 2007: Brain Witt started every game at SS for 3 years then gets moved to 2B so that your everyday 3B (Johnston) from a year ago can move to SS, so that a no name brutal JUCO (Hartle maybe?) can play 3B (who eventually switched to SS later in the year).  Meanwhile your Captain and everyday 2B for the past 3 years gets benched then eventually removed from the team for whatever reason.  I think that year they had like 10 seniors, however they were able to stay young and inexperienced by shuffling everyone around and benching their upperclassmen.

Trautwein Field must be the fountain of youth, because the team is alway young.
