Two fabled Ohio programs currently run by Ohio Grads...

Check out these lovely results (nearly identical to every other year) - HERE

Then you have the baseball team, who has been outscored 62-30 in the past 8 games (7 of them losses).

Two words - Athens Mafia.

How long are we going to let this sub-mediocrity continue? Might as well get joke-cutt back to cut the spots, b/c they are floundering in their current state.

This has really gotten to be an embarrassment of the highest order. These results are unacceptable, yet allowed to continue year in year out.

It really is pretty amazing.  I don't think I have EVER seen a program of any kind with this much of a movement against the coach for this long in the fan base.  If you polled everyone that followed Ohio baseball, what percent would say yes to the question "Should he be gone?"  90+?  What would the results have been 5 years ago...90+?  It's just amazing.

We apparently don't care about baseball anymore. I'm planning to ask Mr. Schaus why that's true during the upcoming Akron/Canton alumni event.  Why no accountability for a coach who is so mediocre (at best).

Men's Golf with another stellar 9th place finish this week at Purdue.

If we ever had a Top 5 finish, I think the sky would fall.

Brutal. Kermit has to be rolling over in his grave (although he's probably dizzy from dealing with this Cooley disaster for the past 20+ years).

Who was your coach?

Cooley's fault? Give me a break.

Love:  How many full scholarships do we give out for Men's golf? Can you find our 18 hole home golf course in this town...county?  Can you find our outdoor or indoor practice facility? I remember being in the Convo once and seeing a driving net set up in an office.  Oh I forgot, they have that tiny section of grass reserved for them at the OU Driving Range.  Quality!!! How many home golf matches do we hold each year? Oh that's right...please refer to my previous question about our 18 hole golf course. Is there one other MAC school that doesn't have an 18 hole golf course to play it's home matches on?

Instead of always shouting at the world that coaches are mediocre try and look to see why they are. Its money and facilities. Maybe the Athletic Dept can take some of the revenue from the new basketball seats on the court and give it to golf.  Oh wait....that won't happen.  But lets get rid of that bum Cooley because he finishes in the bottom of the standings for golf every year.

Next time you're in town we can meet at the indoor track facility and discuss why our indoor track team isn't competive either. Damn mediocre track coach!

As a volunteer in the Sports Information Office, I was assigned to cover the mens golf team for the 1985 and 1986 season's.  I was assigned as "Editor" of the golf media guide and was given a $200.00 budget. The budget back in those days for the baskeball and football media guides was in the area of $12,000.00.

I really enjoyed Kermit who treated me like a son.  I remember the photo shoot in 1986 as I was nearing graduation after winter quarter.  Harry Snavely had finished taking the team and individual photos and asked Kermit if they were done.  Kermit said  "No, we have one more picture" as Kermit came over and put his arm around me.  I stil have that picture today and was really moved when I saw it as part of the tribute film that was put together after he died.

As an FYI, here is a comparison of the current media guides for Fiami and Ohio from the athletic websites:

Ohio: No Media Guide!

The last media guide produced was in 2005 and there is no link for a Media Guide in 2004!

2005:  http://www.ohiobobcats.com/sports/m-golf/spec-rel/0506-golf-media-guide.html

I attended the first spring practice after Solich was named head coach and had the opportunity to visit with Kermit in the pressbox. It was fun to see him and my father (age 77) exchange stories as Kermit was the head basketball coach at Columbus South High School when my Dad was a student there. One of Kermit's players on the basketball team was the late Dr. Paul Ebert who went on to earn All-American Honors in both basketball and baseball at Ohio State. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paul_Ebert

Nice story. Golf at Ohio has NO CHANCE to win given the current support and facilities.

Baseball, on the other hand, is a totally different story. Well supported by the department, and the best stadium in the MAC. Athens and OU want to have good baseball, but it just hasn't happened. For those of you that don't go to the games, you would be surprised at how good the crowds usually are. It's a nice atmosphere with lots of promotions, the "rally train", etc...if only the team could provide some spark of it's own.
