Wrenfest was a huge success. Thanks to all the players, staff and marketing folks who made it happen! One of the players best efforts yet!

Anyone able to be there that can report?

My husband and I attended Wren Fest which happened to be our 25th wedding anniversary and what a way to celebrate watching our youngest finally enjoy his college baseball career. It was a great time and Coach Smith is a class act and a REAL coach. I actually heard all the coaches giving positive reinforcements and actually ciaching and teaching the players. Unlike last years "coach" and I use that term lightly. The food was great. The marketing dept did an amazing job and giving away $500 wasn't too shabby either. Even though we didn't win the $$.... It was great to see those young men come together as a team and see the huge strides they've made already. Also the turnout was large. I'm looking forward to a very successful Bobcat baseball season! Come on 2013!!!!! ⚾

I can appreciate your excitement, but I personally resent your comments.  Coach Carbone helped shaped the lives of many young men, mine included.  Just because your son didnt like the way he was coached doesn't mean that the coaches did not have the best interests for your son in their minds.

It had NOTHING to do with the way my son was coached it was the whole picture. Carbone lied to our faces about his program and how he did things and then I had to sit back and listen to him say sarcastic remarks and break the spirits of some of the players. If you were there you'd have heard and seen it dirt hand. I'm glad your son had a great expeirnece with Carbone. But my son and many of then other players were puzzled by the way they were treated and they wasted an entire year and didn't learn anything. Carbone needed to go I'm looking forward to what Coach Smith is doing with this team. Sorry if you're offended but thank god for my first ammendment right. I see you just joined so you could take me out. Nice.

1.  It was not my son, it was ME who had the experience.  I LIVED it, first hand.  I went through many struggles with him.  We had our fair share of arguments, and I had my share of discipline. But, in the end, it was ME who had to grow up and understand that he was shaping me into a man, and not allowing me to act like a child.

I couldn't be more appreciative of that, because after all, life itself far outweighs the importance of college baseball.
I presonally have accomplished many things since my graduation from the program, and believe I would not be where I am today without the direction of Carbone, Toadvine, Mal, and See and the opportunities that have arisen because of it.

2.  I did not join just to take you out-  I was a member before the site crashed, haven't posted since- Needed to get new login info.

I never doubted that-  but I don't need others opinions to shape my own. Im not the only one who feels this way about Carbone either.

Louis I'm glad you had a great experience with Carbone. That was you. Some of these young men have been put down, ridiculed and treated badly under Carbone. What kind of life lesson is that? He didn't care about making these boys better. Or even bringing out the best in them... All he cared about was being recognized by his peers and just "putting in his time". I saw it with my own eyes.
I really wish he would have just retired last year but that was a good life lesson for some of those young men. To deal with adversity!!! Carbone had his chance for many years to take this program to the next level but he failed. He had the talent he just didn't use it wisely, so now Coach Smith gets to polish these diamonds and turn them into the real players that all of us know they are capable of being. He actually showed a very talented player who didn't want to play by the rules the door. That spoke volumes to some of the other players and showed them that he means business He "cut out Carbones cancer", so to speak. He has already taught them that hard work and perseverence will pay off. Those are great lessons in my book. Maybe if you stop by the Wren you'll see what I'm talking about. Coach See was not a good candidate as many of the alum thought and thank goodness they aren't doing the hiring. It's on to a new baseball legacy under Coach Smith and I for one am very pleased with what I've seen so far. He's shaping them into hard working young men. OU BB has a renewed sense of teamwork and leadership and I can't wait to see our boys grow as a team. Come see me if you make it to the Wren. I always sit on the 3rd base side behind our dugout. Best regards...A very proud Bobcat Mom! ⚾
