Schmidt and Brenley played a little bit in the 1989 season.

Then there wasn't another Ohio player, pitcher of batter, to make the big leagues until Adam Russell debuted in 2008. Russell was the first pitcher since Dave Tobik from 1978-85.

Also in 1989, Joe Carbone took over as the new head coach at Ohio.

I think Krauss is indeed the first since Brenley/Schmidt.  Cory Keylor made it to AAA a few years ago but never got called up.  It has to hurt to get so close but not get the chance, even if for just 1 day in September.

Steve Swisher played until 1982. Managed to stay in the league 8 years and made one all-star team in 1976 for the Cubs.

I think we have sufficiently answered the original question.

Krauss is back up with the Astros. Not sure exactly when he came back up.

I've been checking the box scores. He's been playing for more than  a week, playing about 2 of 3 games, mainly left field, batting  5th. Lots of 1-4 and  0-4 games.

He was called up when George Springer was placed on the DL. He'll be sent back down when Springer is activated.

He stayed up all thru August and fared better, with a .348 OBP in 40 ABs. He has only had 1 AB in the past 10 days though. He is still not arbitration eligible, so I imagine the Astros will keep him at least another year before he costs anything. He just needs to dominate AAA and make the most of whatever chance he gets in the bigs, namely cutting down on his 28% K rate.

No offense to Marc, but with the numbers he's put up, I'm pretty sure the Astos organization is not worried about arbitration, and Marc probably is not either.

And curious as to what his actuall "service time" is.

I have Krauss in my OOTP league and he does a pretty good job in a platoon.

In the back of my head, I still rate players based on how well they played for me in MVP 2005.

Unfortunately, most players from MVP 2005 are almost retired and...(does math)...dammit, I'm getting old.
