Guy is bringing it, played well again today. Such an athlete though. Played three positions while he was here.

After Sayles sacked Simms, the announcer also said something to the affect that "Casey Sayles come from Oklahoma and played at Ohio, under Frank Solich".

Perhaps "Omaha", as opposed to "Oklahoma"?

Entirely possible.

I thought I heard the guy say Oklahoma.

I knew he was from Omaha,so I asked my wife.

She was in another room and said she couldn't make it out.

Saw the end of the San Antonio/Birmingham game yesterday. Sayles led the charge when the Iron stopped SA on six plays inside the two (SA got a first down on a pass interference call). He had three of the tackles and stuffed a hole by taking out three blockers all by himself. The Iron have the best short-yardage defense in the AAF and he's a big reason for it. The guy's a monster.

He was a one-man goal line stand.

Sayles is a great football player, I am glad that he is succeeding.

Nobody despises to lose more than I do. That's got me into trouble over the years, but it also made a man of mediocre ability into a pretty good coach. Woody Hayes

The AAF is suspending operations. That didn’t last long. Hope Casey did well enough to get another chance in the NFL.

And if he doesn’t, I guess there is always another chance to do so with the XFL assuming it launches as scheduled on its target relaunch date of 2020.

According to the papers out here, the failure of the AAF is giving the XFL second thoughts.

The shutdown apparently wasn't handled very well: https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/2019/04/04/aaf-alli... /

I think Casey turned enough heads that someone is bound to give him a shot. If not the NFL, maybe the CFL.

On the way to work this AM I had on sports talk radio in Boston. Two guys that do a sports betting podcast called the "Bank Roll Boys" were on. They said that word in the gambling community is that the guy that bankrolled the AAF (Carolina Hurricanes owner) also was bankrolling a new betting app for football, including real time prop bets. The app turned out to be pretty good and was successful for the AAF. They're now going to roll it out for the NFL and NCAA and decided not to put anymore money into the AAF.

One of the biggest failures here was the NFLPA refusing to back the league and open the door for 4th and 5th string NFL guys to join AAFL rosters, opening the door for the AAFL to become a true minor league system and even collect some operating revenue from the NFL, as well as NFL fan interest in watching players who's rights are owned by their favorite NFL team.

I am not sure any big business handles a closure very well, unless you are the CEO or Board. The workers always get a short straw. I am sure the residents of Lordstown, OH really feel for these players.

If this ends up being the case, it's cold but you almost have to marvel at the foresight that went into this plan to get the technology. Not only does he get the rights to it, he got a test case where he could see that it worked in the real world.

That's amazing.

I think of the Mad Men when the firm keeps telling the trust fund kid that his idea to put jai alai on network television is a good idea and keeps cashing the checks despite knowing it was a disaster.

This guy played the naivete, enthusiasm and nostalgia of Charlie Ebersol like a fiddle. As for Polian, I actually enjoy watching that guy get his lunch eaten. He's like a cartoon character in his old age of the guy who hates anything new while being vaguely racist about it. So him getting played has been fun to watch.

I very much want this to be a documentary. Maybe Charlie Ebersol can do that one, too.

Steelers had him at LDE last time around, but he played DT for Birmingham. I'm guessing the Steelers try him at DT this time around. Good luck to him. He deserved another shot.
