I don't think I've met a better Debbie Downer than you sir. Lol! IMHO, it's actually easier to be more disappointed to not make a bowl game after winning several conference titles and being ranked. At least to me. Although we haven't won a MAC title since 68.....I like our consistency which gives us a chance every year. Rather than to win one and be dormant for years. What will you say if we won a MAC title and then followed it by losing seasons and no bowl games? This is a "what have you done lately for me" industry. Would call for Frank's head again in that scenario too?

You need to do some fact checking before you make blanket judgements on me my Blue Tornado buddy.

Find me one instance I've called for Frank's head? One! I've been incredibly vocal about how he does NOT need to be fired nor should he be.

Please. Re-read that. I'll give you a moment.

Ok ... let's continue.

Why do you think if Ohio wins one they suddenly will become a doormat? Winning leads to failure? I think we've established, Frank is not leaving Ohio for another job. So wouldn't you think that a title would help him grow the program?

I love the consistency of winning. Yes ...it's far better than losing.

But why when someone would like to see more than 7.5-5.35 they are suddenly ungrateful?

Don't understand why people keep going back to that train of thought?

I'm happy Ohio wins.

I wish they would win championships.

I'm disappointed when they don't.

I still like them.

Pretty simple. I know it's easier assuming I enjoy when they lose ... makes that villain tag easier to apply for some.

I did't call for your head. I just made a joke about a Debbie Downer. When Akron and Miami won ships most recently they faced doormat seasons afterwards. They haven't had the same continued success since then. That's all I was saying.

In this bowl game of "Battle of the Old Coaches" do you think we will win?

I believe they go to every bowl every year.

Yes. They are busing the entire band to Frisco. They head out Sunday evening, so they should get into Frisco area late Monday. They will be back on buses right after game to head home.

They take full band whenever they can go by bus. The only bowls they aren’t able to take full band are Idaho and Bahama bowls. They are only allowed to take a pep band of around 70 members to those games because university can’t afford flying all 240 members. I

You insinuated that I'd call for Frank's head if they had a losing record and missed a bowl after a MAC title. As if i'm calling for it now for not winning a MACC. Am I misreading this?

I don't think we'd be in same position as Akron or Miami if Ohio won a MACC. Solich has built a foundation that doesn't see seasons that scrape bottom. That's a credit to him. But at the same time we praise him for what he's built ... you can't ignore he's the same coach that can't win a title. You have to acknowledge the failures if you're going to acknowledge the success. Pretty simple to me.

In the Beacon Journal's story on a headcoaching search, writer George Thomas cites Ohio as a role model for its annually being a contender for postseason play.

All four of our losses this season came against teams with Top-50 defenses: Cincy (#8), UVA (#24), NIU (#31) and Fiami (#47). Our lone win vs a Top-50 defense was Buffalo (#32). SDSU is ranked #20 in total D. They can't be taken lightly.

We will need to have a balanced attack. Our passing game will need to be a big part of rhis game . This is not a game where we can pound the ball on the ground and expect to be successful. If we are forced to be one dimensional we will struggle to score points.

We can’t give them too much respect like we did with Sutton smith. They have a good defense but they are not invincible, we have to impose our will on them like we did with buffalo and Cinci who have top 50 defenses. Hopefully FS didn’t make monsters of them in the press conference like he did with Minnesota a few years back. Nobody is getting a hall of game jersey in the Frisco Bowl and the Cats will be victorious.

Nobody despises to lose more than I do. That's got me into trouble over the years, but it also made a man of mediocre ability into a pretty good coach. Woody Hayes

Agenda? Ha! Not sure what agenda you're implying?

What have I posted that leads you you make that conclusion.

Am I lobbying for Frank to be fired? Ummmm. No.

Am I lobbying for Ohio to shut down football? Ummm. No.

Am I wishing the program would rise about the 7.5-5.35 program they have been last 14 years? Well, yes.

I don't know why it's so hard to understand my position. I love Ohio University and I want their football & basketball programs to be as successful as possible? Why is it when someone (me) points out any shortcoming, you jump to agendas?

Should've looked for me in Cincy on Wednesday watching Ohio vs Xavier hoops. Or better yet, look for me in Frisco for the bowl game. I'll buy you a beer and happily talk some Bobcat football.

Agenda. Ha! That's hilarious.

Because of how repetitively you point out any shortcomings. What are you trying to accomplish? If someone points out a positive, you usually counter with a negative. Like you want us to stop being positive and accept your negative position. Your points usually equate to, we don’t have cause to be positive and here’s why...
And I already acknowledged that you are a true fan. I can again if you would like. That has nothing to do with how negative you are about the program. And how often you have to complain about the lack of a championship. We all know. You have said it over and over and over again. How many times do you have to complain about the same thing? I mean really?

Great points Sam. Every Bobcat fan on this website realizes they have not achieved a league title in fifty years. Supporters don't need reminded daily. Give it a rest! Go Bobcats and get win #9 in the bowl game!

Totally agree with this post - and I absolutely HATE that we cannot and have not won a MACC. Not to pile on to bshot44 but Monroe evolved in a similar way. He kept hijacking every thread with the same narrative because he wanted everyone to acknowledge "the truth". The difference between Monroe and bshot44 (as of now) is that Monroe called for Frank's head.

Listen, it's mind numbing that we weren't able to close the deal this year and win a MACC and many seem willing to sacrifice a few of our monotonous good seasons for a championship...with total suckage in between. The irony is, we kinda got that with men's basketball and that doesn't seem to curb any of the bitching. That makes me think we just have a bunch of chronic complainers on this board.

So let me get this straight. It's not that you disagree or argue my points ... it's because they're too repetitive? Hmmmmm. Ok.

Well... for you faithful Bobcat fans that have been around for as long as your kid has played ... maybe the facts are tough to hear?

But for 20+ years of this .... and for others many previous years of being championship-less .... these "complaints" are consumed differently.

So you can pour on the positive .... but it's not okay to counter with the truth because it's too repetitive?

Cool. Makes total sense.

I mean, this isn't a message board or anything. I shouldn't be allowed to shoot off facts ... just gushing compliments.

And I love how you just lump all my comments into "No MACC". Ha!

Go back and re-read .... couldn't be further from the truth.

Who has the agenda? Seems like you want to just label me as something I'm not.

Don't most discussions have multiple viewpoints? Would be pretty boring on here if everyone just agreed on everything. I know that's how most would like it.

"Frank's great!"

"Yep"

"What a win over Howard!"

"It really was, wasn't it"

"Another 8-win season! Super duper!"

"You nailed it, buddy. Go Bobcats!"

Yeah ... that would be a great message board.

Sorry for the repetitiveness in your mind. But when you say "counter with a negative" ... I say "counter with a fact/stat-based reply". Can I help it that there are facts/stats out there and they're not always pro-Ohio? Am just supposed to pay attention to the ones that are pro-Ohio?

We have different views of where and what this program is and can become. Cool.

Or, there are fans that have reasonable expectations for the football and basketball teams to display success (MAC championships). For the amount of money spent on the coaching staffs and programs, it is fair to point out their faults.

Reasonable expectations gets confused with moaning, griping, & bitching on here.

Oops. Sorry. That was repetitive 😉

I think that is true of all teams, in all sports. Myself, I freely admit to having different goals and expectations than most fans. So long as the program is clean, and the players are getting treated fairly and leaving with an education, and the teams keep improving, I'm generally satisfied.
