SDSU simply doesn't have the horses to keep pace with Ohio. They are also going in reverse as they have lost 4 of their last 5 games including 3 straight to close out the season. They are unsettled at QB and won't be able to outscore Ohio with that offense. OU cruises to a win in this one.

Glad we're playing a school that people have heard of. San Diego St. has some good wins this year in Arizona St & Boise St. Most of their losses were quite close, too. Looking forward to a good one.

I'm cool with The Aztecs. At least folks are familiar with the school. I hope to make this one. I'm overdue and this was a destination I thought would be worth the trip.

Stadium is smaller than our place.

I'll be curious how this "prediction" ages.

Bowls are tricky. Never know who really wants to be there & whos sitting out.

I think this will be a challenging one for Ohio. Mt West is far better league than MAC.

Looking forward to the game & a trip to Frisco.

Yeah but if their defense is more along the lines of NIU, and that appears to be the case, this game could easily be a slog. No turnovers, win the special teams battle, get a few big plays. This won't be an easy team to run on

2015-2018 they are 39-14. Their seniors have been a part of lots of winning and will not like being underdogs vs. Ohio. They beat Boise State and Arizona State this year. Boise managed only 51 yards rushing, 1.4 per attempt vs. the Aztecs. Stanford and Arizona State rushed for only 50 and 36 respectively vs. the Aztecs. On defense, this season, they have held opponents to 2.7 per rushing attempt. Their OL resembles Ohio's. Their coaches will have plenty of time to prepare. The Aztecs have plenty of bowl experience, Long winning three so far, and will not let the team lose focus or get caught up in the bowl atmosphere. The most any opponent has scored against the Aztecs has been 31, twice, Stanford and Hawaii. Stanford's 21 point win was the only time anyone "cruised to a win" vs the Aztecs. Stanford's QB, Costello, passed for 300+ and 4TDs, when the Cardinal were held to the already mentioned 50 yards rushing.

This is a great opportunity for our program. Quality opponent, ESPN exclusivity and our team is healthy and well rested.

We can showcase the best of Ohio football and bury some of this season disappointments.

SDSU is a tough opponent. Anyone who thinks the Cats can coast in this one is delusional. Rocky Long has put up some of the best defenses in the country. The Aztecs regularly play high caliber teams and have been competitive against the PAC-12. Hoping for the best but I don't think it will be a repeat of UAB.

Didn't NIU go out and get spanked by SDSU a couple years ago? This will be a tough test against a solid MWC program.

Do you see how passionate their fans are about going to a bowl game and getting "extra practices" in the December? It's awesome to see fans perspective aligned with the goal for the season. Making a bowl game.

Easy to not be "disappointed" in a bowl game season when you've won three conference titles in the last seven years and been nationally ranked multiple times during that time period.

They aren't starving for something for 50 years ... and something they've been tantalizingly close to multiple times in the last decade.

Knowing Ohio is most likely the best team in the MAC the past two years and has no title to show, let alone a title game appearance is a tough pill to swallow ... especially when they haven't won it in 50 years.

I'm excited for the Frisco Bowl ... it's a different bowl against a very good program. But it still feels like a consolation prize to another title-less year as the best team in the MAC.

I don't think I've met a better Debbie Downer than you sir. Lol! IMHO, it's actually easier to be more disappointed to not make a bowl game after winning several conference titles and being ranked. At least to me. Although we haven't won a MAC title since 68.....I like our consistency which gives us a chance every year. Rather than to win one and be dormant for years. What will you say if we won a MAC title and then followed it by losing seasons and no bowl games? This is a "what have you done lately for me" industry. Would call for Frank's head again in that scenario too?

SDSU is way down this year from what they've been the previous three seasons (2015-17).

In 2015 they went 11-3 averaging 32.1 ppg, rushing for 233 ypg and allowed 16.4 ppg
In 2016 they went 11-3 averaging 35.2 ppg, rushing for 262 ypg an allowed 20.2 ppg
In 2017 they went 10-3 averaging 30.8 ppg, rushing for 252 ypg and allowed 20.2 ppg

In 2018 they're just 7-5 averaging just 22.3 ppg, rushing for 162 ypg and allowed 21.8 ppg

They are still doing a respectable job on defense but have fallen off big time offensively, especially with the running game they've lost between the outstanding duo of Pumphrey and Penny over the last several years (both are long gone). Washington is nowhere near either of those two. They are also somewhat unsettled at the QB spot this year as well, and their leading receiver has just 31 catches and no player on the team has over 600 receiving yards. In short, they are much more of a grind it out team as opposed to the one capable of the explosive plays they made prior to this season, which is why I see Ohio posing a big problem for them. I do not see SDSU slowing down Ohio's offense enough for their offense to try and keep pace.

ESPN Quick Look

Wednesday, Dec. 19
DXL Frisco Bowl
San Diego State vs. Ohio
8 p.m. ET, ESPN
Toyota Stadium, Frisco, Texas

San Diego State Aztecs (7-5)
Key player: LB Kyahva Tezino finished the regular season with 120 tackles, 14.5 tackles for loss and 8.5 sacks on his way to being named first-team All-Mountain West.

Storyline to watch: Rocky Long has taken San Diego State to a bowl game in all eight seasons he has been the head coach, but there's less buzz for this one because the Aztecs finished on a three-game losing streak and lost four of their final five.

Ohio Bobcats (8-4)
Key player: RB A.J. Ouellette and WR Papi White have combined for 21 touchdowns for Ohio this season, but QB Nathan Rourke has thrown for 22 touchdowns and run for 13.

Storyline to watch: This Ohio offense has averaged 470.6 yards and 41.2 points per game, which ranks No. 10 nationally, and scored 49 or more points in five of the Bobcats' final six games. Can anyone slow them down?

This should be a great bowl game. I hope we play an exciting and dominant game to expand our recruiting to the West Coast. Hopefully, we can attract our next Blair Brown. I hope we can get some young linemen some minutes, since we lose 3 great ones. I also hope Allison gets some carries after A.J. and Maleek impose their will on SDSU. I hope Isaiah Cox and Buckner make some catches, Cox has disappeared since the fumble in the Miami game. I hope we get some young linebackers some time as well. Let’s get a victory and get an early start on next year. Go Cats

Nobody despises to lose more than I do. That's got me into trouble over the years, but it also made a man of mediocre ability into a pretty good coach. Woody Hayes

You need to do some fact checking before you make blanket judgements on me my Blue Tornado buddy.

Find me one instance I've called for Frank's head? One! I've been incredibly vocal about how he does NOT need to be fired nor should he be.

Please. Re-read that. I'll give you a moment.

Ok ... let's continue.

Why do you think if Ohio wins one they suddenly will become a doormat? Winning leads to failure? I think we've established, Frank is not leaving Ohio for another job. So wouldn't you think that a title would help him grow the program?

I love the consistency of winning. Yes ...it's far better than losing.

But why when someone would like to see more than 7.5-5.35 they are suddenly ungrateful?

Don't understand why people keep going back to that train of thought?

I'm happy Ohio wins.

I wish they would win championships.

I'm disappointed when they don't.

I still like them.

Pretty simple. I know it's easier assuming I enjoy when they lose ... makes that villain tag easier to apply for some.

The program doesn't get it done when it needs to but statistically is a top G5 program. Reminds me of another school in California by the name Fresno St who could never get over the top an win a WAC Championship. The question to me is can Ohio do what UC did under Minter to Kelly; have a consistent program under Minter and then have the next coach walk in and take things further? In this regard Ohio might be more like UC if an excellent staff walks in capitalizing on the IPF and Sook Center.

Actually, they don't always send the whole band.

I know for the Potato Bowl they only sent 1/2 the band,or a little less.

I don't think they sent even that many to last year's bowl.

In fact, last year, they didn't get to perform at half time.
