Stats show Gareri played in 10 games, which makes him eligible for a medical redshirt. A player can play in 30 percent of a team's games, rounded up. So Ohio played 31 games, making 30 percent 9.3, which rounds up to 10, so he should be good for the redshirt.

If that's the case, trying to get him a redshirt makes sense. The glut of bigs is going to likely see someone transfer next year, so having someone in the system with 4 years left, that is one year more mature is a good thing.

Things are looking much, much brighter with this signing, being that Antonio hopefully can back up the point and play on the wing. Add him to Ben VanderPlas and Mason McMurray, with Jason Carter returning and we should have a very competitive team....

Agree. Welcome to OHIO Antonio.

Can somebody hit a pull up jumper for me?.....

Gareri is intriguing. Played in a solid league for Ellet and did some damage to Northeast Ohio. All-time leading scorer in his school's history and seemed to bang. But last year due to injury we don't know how he can be. I just know I saw Mason McMurray at the North-South game and he looked VERY good. If Vander Plas is even half of what some on here say, McMurray and Ben will be outstanding complements along with Block as big stretch 4's (maybe even 3's). Toss in a 6-7 Murrell and we've all of a sudden got length and shooting.

Interesting you lumped Block in there. He was playing out of position at 4 last year for Ohio most of the time. I still would rather have him as a solid 3, maybe even in a point forward role.

McMurray had a crazy dunk in that North-South game I saw on Twitter. I have a feeling his athleticism is going to surprise some folks.

Saul stated in Cincy team was forced to play a 2 as a 4 often last season, impacted offensive rebounding especially.

I guess I got used to seeing Block as a 4 all year. It will be nice for him to slide into his natural 3 spot and maybe even finally get to play some 1 or 2 when needed. If we have 2 to 3 of McMurray, Vander Plas, Gareri, Carter and Springs ready to step into the 4-5 role then Block will have a big season. It sounds like we may get BVP, McMurray and Carter for sure with the other 2 still projects.

dont forget Doug. looks like a 5 man rotation inside (mcmurray, AJ, BVP, Jason). i expect Springs to be ready Soph year for playing time.

then 6 outside? Kirk, Gollon, Antonio, Block, Jordan, murrell)

be still my heart!

And now it doesn't matter much because he is transferring.

Gareri is transferring? How did I miss this big news? I knew about Butler and Dozier, but somehow this one escaped me.

Nevermind. Once I looked at the regular basketball forum, I see the news is plastered all over the place.
