yes, that's right about the Lebron years. I do not know the details but two years ago the OHSAA adopted something called "competitive balance", aimed at addressing what many felt was the unfair advantage that private schools had in athletics. It meant that enrollment aside, these schools could be moved up in classification. SVSM last year won the D-2 state title. This year they were moved to D-1. Again, I don't know details and I am not inferring that they were moved up because of last year's success.

They were actually D3 in the LeBron's Freshman year and maybe Sophomore too? They played Canal Winchester in the Final 4 in 2000.

I wouldn't be surprised if things like that took place. A school like Bedford Chanel would play D1/D2 schools all year then run through the D4 Tournament like a hot knife through butter.

So what you're saying is after the coaching change he will be contacting Coach Sendy and turning into an All-MAC performer in year 2? :)

Nope. He sat behind the Ohio bench and then made his way to the Ohio locker room after the game.

I was joking about Lunden leaving. I hope he stays. I actually think that if our core guys stick around and are healthy (Dartis, TK, Preston, Carter, BVP) we will be in fairly good shape. Toss in a year of experience for Cowart and Murrell, who is the biggest surprise so far with his extended minutes, and that gives us 7 returnees with experience. McDay would be a breath of fresh air in that he's controlled at the point and comes from a winner.

I read that article early this morning and was going to comment later. It indicates that Boals will have to start over with Lunden. Let's hope this weekend works for him and Boals. Nice article.

From the article he sounds like a great floor leader. Coach Joyce seems to have a lot of influence as he talks about the future “He is a great player. ... He signed at Ohio University [under the old coach Saul Phillips], but with the new coach [Jeff Boals] we don’t know how that is going to work out. But he is going to play Division I college basketball."

Not to read too much into twitter but I just responded to a tweet regarding the matchup he had with Ben tonight. But one can hope.

STVM 6'3 G @lundenm15 (2019) has a scoring package that should translate nicely. Game-high 15 PTS on 7/10 shooting tonight. Forcing Roderick to make tough shots.

My response below was liked by McDay
They should decide to battle it out in practice against each other and shine for four years together at Ohio University. That would be a sight.

If Boals can convince McDay and Roderick to come to OU then he will show us he was the right choice. If he gets 1 of the 2 then I will still be happy. If he gets neither then we need to be a teeny bit worried!

St. V-M coach Dru Joyce II said. “He is a great player. ... He signed at Ohio University [under the old coach Saul Phillips], but with the new coach [Jeff Boals] we don’t know how that is going to work out. But he is going to play Division I college basketball.“Lunden is the kind of player coaches just love to have. He does everything the way you want it done.”

Cutting and pasting from the article listed above. It seems the coach is a big factor in deciding where he goes and he may be rethinking a direction. I think coach is the one needing to re- recruited. When Groce came his first class was necessarily large but his crown jewel was what O'Shea never replaced when Fears left. This point situation is one that needs to happen. Keeping McDay would be a huge win as it makes the rest of the job that much easier. I have my doubts though after reading that article and looking between the lines.

Worried? I'm not expecting him to get either one. Expect the worst and hope for the best when it comes to a coaching change and that new coach trying to re-recruit guys who signed with previous coach or was being heavily recruited. Step away from the ledge and let Boals do his thing. This is not an overnight fix fellas.

Signing day is in two weeks. I would think if he wanted to de-commit he'd do it very soon before the last of the good scholarships are gone. No way this kid is thinking of going lower than the MAC.

Considering how much time he spent at Akron and OSU, I trust there's already a solid foundation and understanding between Boals and Dru Joyce. I hope that's not too optimistic.
